As is known, we beat Real Madrid 1–0 in Round 3 of the Puskás-Suzuki Cup, finishing top of the group ahead of Slavia Praha, the Spaniards and Genk. As five-time winners, we therefore have another chance to draw level with record champions Real Madrid, who have won the tournament six times. Juventus await our team in Monday's final, which kicks off at 19:00.
Ahead of the match we asked the head coach of our U17 team, Márton Bogdánfi, what he expects from the encounter.
"We watched recordings of all three of their matches. They are a very physical team; in our group, Slavia were perhaps the closest in style. Two very tired teams will meet, although Juventus had a rest day during the tournament. We will do everything we can to get the boys into good condition by kick-off. A key factor will be how fresh each team can be for the match, and individual quality may decide it, because as a team I am certain we will function well. I am looking forward to the final positively because I know the boys still have a lot in reserve, they are mentally very strong and their hearts drive them forward" – our young head coach replied. Given the short turnaround, we also asked him how they had analysed the opposition.
"On the bus back after the Real Madrid match, the staff already started watching Juventus's previous games again. We wanted to gather as much information as possible. I feel we have prepared for them and I hope we can implement what we want to do" – the coach added, before also speaking about the atmosphere surrounding the club.
"There has not been unity like this at the club around a youth event for ten years. Practically everyone wants to be there; it is unmatched. This is also what we fought for, because an incredible level of support will greet them. Even as a coach, I have never had the experience of sending the boys onto the pitch with this kind of support. On Monday I could not hear my own voice, and I hope I will not be able to this time either. A player works for moments like these, to experience them and celebrate together with the supporters after the match."
