Although our team took the lead against Budafok as early as the eighth minute through Ferenc Ujváry, the hosts eventually equalised after the break with an unusual goal. The match nevertheless marked an important milestone for our 17-year-old defender, as he scored his first goal for our senior team.
“I was very happy to finally score. I had chances against Vasas and BVSC as well, but this time I finally managed to convert one, and I was really happy. I could hardly believe it had gone in. Lots of people wrote to congratulate me and say they were proud of me. The support from everyone felt really good. I feel I still have a huge amount to improve for senior football, both in crossing and in reading situations, but I work every day to make progress in these areas and help the team” – our young player summed up after making his 10th appearance in the starting XI.
He said that the physical and tactical demands are different in the first team, but he receives a great deal of help from his more experienced teammates.
“It is different physically, technically and tactically, but I feel the coach gives me opportunities and I am able to take them. I try to learn from the more experienced players and absorb what I see. They help me with everything, accepted me into the team very quickly, and I am happy they support me so much. In every match, after every pass, they praise me; they are behind me and help me.”
Zoltán Turi’s side eliminated second-division Kozármisleny on penalties in the previous round, while our team also reached the last 16 with an upset of our own. In extra time Ákos Zuigeber put the finishing touch on the tie, scoring the winning goal against DVSC in the additional period.
“I hope it won’t be a close match and that we will control the game, but we are preparing for them to sit back and defend. We will not underestimate them because they are capable of causing an upset, just as we are. We never look down on our opponents” – said our academy player, adding that it will be a huge help for the team to play in front of the home crowd again.
