Tamás Szamosi's team claimed a four-goal win over Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia, while our U16s suffered a one-goal defeat in the derby against MTK. Although our U14 side took the lead in the very first minute away to Vasas Kubala Akadémia through Olivér Oke Olamide, they eventually returned home without a point.

U16

Our U16 side suffered a one-goal defeat away to MTK Budapest in the derby of Round 17 of the elite league. After the match, head coach István Körtvélyesi highlighted that both teams produced outstanding performances and, although our players managed to create chances, accuracy was lacking in the finishing. Our team are second in the table, one point behind leaders MTK.

Elite league, Round 17

MTK Budapest–Budapest Honvéd FC 1–0 (0–0)

HONVÉD: Czinki, Marinyák (Völgyi 78.), Érsek (Kardos 78.), Kralicsek, Horváth-Garaba, Solymos (Rotár 67.), Hegyes, Vérten (Meggyes – at half-time), Barton, Domány (Jakab 67.), Hajagos

István Körtvélyesi, head coach:

„The match delivered the quality I expected! Both teams produced outstanding performances. In the first half, the number of high-quality moves tilted more in Honvéd's favour, but MTK made a very good adjustment at the start of the second half. After conceding, Honvéd regained the initiative and we created several promising chances. Unfortunately, the lack of precision and the rushing that characterised us throughout the match persisted until the 90th minute. We were purposeful and organised, but in the attacking zone we have to support each other better and strive for cooperation – you cannot solve everything alone.

U15

In the U15 competition, our academy players faced Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia. Tamás Szamosi's side earned a convincing four-goal victory at the Bozsik Arena. Our young player Roland Józsa contributed three assists to the win. With 26 points, our team are sixth in the league and will continue their campaign away to MTK in Round 19.

Elite league, Round 18

Budapest Honvéd FC–Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia 4–0 (2–0)

HONVÉD: Petró (Szabó 41.), Török (Balázs 54.), Nyiri, Józsa, Malomsoki, Menyhárt (Schill 50.), Magyar (Bolyki 50.), Vass (Gerebenes 41.), Varga, Szabó (Palásti 41.), Szijjártó

Goals: Magyar (15.), Nyiri (35.), Malomsoki (65.), Palásti (82.)

Tamás Szamosi, head coach:

We got exactly what we had prepared for. Obviously it was a huge experience for the boys to play at the Bozsik Arena again, and they approached the match accordingly. We agreed that nobody was going to take points away from here. Huge congratulations to the lads!

U14

Our U14s suffered a 5–3 defeat away to Vasas Kubala Akadémia. Although we took the lead in the very first minute through Olivér Oke Olamide, the hosts responded quickly. We went into the break trailing 4–2 and, although Csaba Tóth pulled one back after the restart, we were unable to erase the deficit. Our age-group team are seventh in the table with 27 points.

Elite league, Round 22

Vasas Kubala Akadémia–Budapest Honvéd FC 5–3 (4–2)

HONVÉD: Mező (Ehmann 41.), Karácsony, Oláh-Sebők (Tóth 63.), Babalola (Keindl 65.), Marte, Oke (Nnadi 41.), Palaga (Tóth 41.), Kamber, Rácz, Hanzély, Gerencsér (Kovács 53.)

Goals: Oke (1.), Oláh-Sebők (18.)

Djordje Kamber, head coach:

We started the match brilliantly: in the very first minute, after a fine move, we took a 1–0 lead. After that, however, Vasas scored three goals from set pieces, an area in which we had previously been strong. We did not defend well inside the penalty area and were not aggressive enough. We managed to create many big chances but were not composed enough with our finishing. In the second half, with better and more aggressive play, we closed to 4–3, then hit the post and had several opportunities to equalise. Unfortunately, the opposition took advantage of a lapse in concentration and made it 5–3. We wish our player Toluwa Babalola, who suffered a broken collarbone, a speedy recovery.
