U17
Our U17 team earned a 4–3 victory over Japanese side Hiroshima in an international match in Banská Bystrica. Head coach Viktor Petrók stressed that it is important for the players to experience different football cultures; our team played with the right attitude and a good approach. Our academy players continue their league campaign against Vasas on Friday.

Viktor Petrók, head coach:
“We played a useful match against a likeable team. It is important for the players to experience other football cultures. Because our opponents played open, proactive football, we had many opportunities in transition after winning the ball and from building out. Whenever we managed to play through the pressure, we often reached the final line immediately, but there were several mistakes in the build-up or finishing. Overall, the team played with the right attitude and a good approach throughout.”
U16
Our U16 side have had a busy week. The league match against Kisvárda originally scheduled for March 21 was played last Wednesday, meaning the team took to the field twice during the week. István Körtvélyesi's side returned from Kisvárda with a point after a 1–1 draw with the hosts, but on Saturday there was no sharing of the spoils as our team earned a one-goal victory over Illés Academy.
Elite League, Round 13

Honvéd: Czinki, Marinyák, Érsek, Barton, Horváth-Garaba, Solymos (Vérten 72.), Kardos (Rotár 61.), Hegyes, Domány, Meggyes (Völgyi 61.), Hajagos

István Körtvélyesi, head coach:
“We played a very difficult and awkward match. We tried to play football, but it is very hard to attack a set defence throughout, while defending against constant direct play can also be unpleasant. I think we solved the task: we had our chances but managed to convert only one. I am not satisfied with the result, but I am with the football and the attitude. Congratulations to the team!”
Elite League, Round 14
Budapest Honvéd FC–Illés Academy 1–0 (1–0)
Honvéd: Czinki, Marinyák, Érsek (Meggyes 57.), Kralicsek, Horváth-Garaba, Solymos (Domány 46.), Hegyes, Jakab (Vérten 71.), Barton, Völgyi (Kardos 71.), Hajagos (Rotár 76.)
Goal: Jakab (31.)
István Körtvélyesi, head coach:
“Today's opponents continued the same match strategy as our Wednesday opponents. I think we have improved since Wednesday, especially in the defensive elements against direct play. We dominated the match, but the number of high-quality attacks we produced was low. At the same time, we had chances to win by a larger margin. In the final ten minutes we could feel the fatigue from Wednesday, but concentration, discipline and organisation helped us through that period. Congratulations on the victory!”
U15
In the U15 competition our team won 2–0 away to DVTK through goals from Milán Malomsoki and Richárd Pisont. Tamás Szamosi's side are sixth in the table with twenty points and host PAFC at the academy in the next round.
Elite League, Round 15
DVTK–Budapest Honvéd FC 0–2 (0–0)
Honvéd: Petró, Nyiri, Schill (Bolyki 67.), Józsa, Menyhárt (Magyar 67.), Vass (Balázs 57.), Varga, Szabó (Palásti 57.), Szijjártó, Malomsoki, Gerebenes (Pisont 41.)
Goals: Malomsoki (69.), Pisont (72.)
Tamás Szamosi, head coach:
“We fully deserved to take all three points away from DVTK! We could already have decided the match in the first half but failed to convert our chances. In the second half, our will and determination were also important factors in winning the game.”
U14
Our U14 team suffered a one-goal defeat away to DVSC last Saturday. Although we went into half-time one goal down, Miron Marte equalised in the second half, but the hosts scored late to make it 3–2. Djordje Kamber's side are seventh in the league with twenty points and face second-placed MTK on Thursday.
Elite League, Round 18
DVSC–Budapest Honvéd FC 3–2 (2–1)
Honvéd: Ehmann (Pándi 62.), Karácsony, Oláh-Sebők (Málint 41.), Horváth, Babalola (Keindl 49.), Marte (Tóth 62.), Oke (Tóth 41.), Palaga (Kovács 41.), Kamber, Hanzély, Gerencsér (Rácz 41.)
Goals: Marte (11.) (46.)
Djordje Kamber, head coach:
“Instead of returning home with three points, we came back with none. We took the lead early enough and created several chances in the first half to extend it. We were also dangerous from set pieces, but could not score another goal. A drop in concentration late in the first half allowed the opponent to turn the score around. We started the second half even better, equalised quickly and continued to create chances, but again failed to take them – we also had a goal disallowed. The opponent only reached our penalty area for the first time in the fourth minute of stoppage time and then scored the winning goal from a corner. A lack of concentration and determination in the final seconds cost us point(s) – we could have earned the draw or even the win.”
