Our women’s team (and defence) has been strengthened by an international player after the club reached an agreement with Bosnia international Maja Hrelja, who will continue her career in Kispest. The 24-year-old most recently played for FK Sarajevo, with whom she won the league title last season.
Krisztián Korozmán, head of women’s football: “We wanted to strengthen our defence further, and in Maja we have managed to sign an experienced player who has already tested herself at international level. She is an international footballer and was even named player of the year in Bosnia in 2023. We are delighted that she has joined us.“
Maja Hrelja: “I started playing football in my home town of Gorazde. At first I played in the street with my older brothers and other boys. I already loved football very much then, and it also motivated me that I had to compete with the boys. They were stronger, but I wanted to prove myself. My first club back home was SFK Libero. I chose Honvéd because the club has very good conditions. We have high-quality training opportunities, attention is paid to nutrition, the facilities are good, and the Hungarian league also seems extremely interesting to me. I like setting big goals for myself. With the team I would like to finish in the top five in the coming season, while continuing to develop and gain even more experience.“
Martin Masaryk, head coach: “Despite her young age, Maja has already played for the Bosnia national team and in the Women’s Champions League, so she is not only talented but also has international experience. We were looking for a young, technically skilled player with a bright future for our defence, and Maja fits that profile. With these qualities, she can become a leader of our back line.“
