The home side took the lead in the 10th minute after a cross. The match was evenly contested afterwards, although from midway through the first half Honvéd were mostly pushed back into their own half. We tried to threaten on the counter and created two or three promising situations, but none resulted in a goal.
Honvéd changed almost the entire line-up for the second half. Spartak scored their second goal following a corner, then were awarded a penalty in the final minute of regular time and converted it to make the final score 3–0. The match proved instructive for a team featuring many new players and still in the process of learning to play together.
Anna Nádudvari's assessment after the match:
“Considering this was our first match together, I saw many elements on the pitch that we had practised in training. This match was important so that we could see what is worth refining further and what the team's strengths might be. It was an excellent learning match – it became clear to everyone where we need to place greater emphasis going forward. We made many changes for the second half and wanted to win, so we were disappointed by the defeat, but given that this was our first match together, we have reason to be optimistic.”
