After the draw at Budafok and the home victory over Tatabánya, we travelled to face Kozármisleny, who were also unbeaten this season and had two points. Our rivals were playing at home for the third consecutive match and welcomed us aiming to claim their first victory of the campaign, while we wanted to preserve our unbeaten run through the third round as well.
The warm, humid summer-evening league match began with a red-and-black opportunity. In the sixth minute Barna Benczenleitner won the ball and sent it in from the left; it bounced up in front of Zalán Kerezsi before Zoltán Medgyes fired, but his attempt from ten metres flew over. In the 11th minute Sámuel Major tried his luck from distance, his low shot going wide of the right post, before chances for Kispest followed again. Our team had more possession and most of the play took place in the Kozármisleny half, during which we put together several attacks that promised good opportunities.
In the 19th minute, after a cross from Zalán Kerezsi, the defenders cleared ahead of Dávid Holman, then a minute later Attila Lőrinczy’s corner from the left swung in dangerously, but Noel Keresztes’s flick missed the target. In the 22nd minute Attila Lőrinczy unleashed a powerful shot from 18 metres in the left-inside channel, which goalkeeper Lékai saved well. Lőrinczy remained active, trying from inside the penalty area in the 26th minute and placing the ball just wide of the right post, while the opening half-hour ended with a dangerous, curling corner from Zalán Kerezsi.
Kozármisleny became more active as the half went on. Márk Gyetván first made a well-timed save coming off his line, then Major fired another long-range effort, this time narrowly wide of the bottom-right corner. In the 41st minute Zalán Kerezsi brilliantly wriggled past two defenders, though his cross was unfortunately too deep. In the final minutes the hosts threatened, while we saw a fine sliding tackle from Alex Szabó, a blocked shot by Noel Keresztes and an important clearance from Bence Nyitrai.
Aurél Csertői made a change at half-time, replacing Noel Keresztes with Ákos Sigér (our midfielder was feeling dizzy, which was another reason the substitution had to be made). Just as the first half ended with Kozármisleny attacks, the second began with home moves as well, fortunately resulting only in minor chances. Kozármisleny made our defence work hard in the opening quarter-hour of the second half, while our response was an Ákos Sigér shot after winning possession; the midfielder’s effort deflected up off a defender and became an easy catch for Lékai.
In the 65th minute goalkeeper Lékai made another save, gathering Attila Lőrinczy’s effort headed towards the bottom-left corner. Although we have just mentioned two Kispest chances, overall Kozármisleny remained the more active side. And when a team attacks more, sooner or later it tends to create more opportunities. That happened here too: in the 69th minute Lékai did well to punch away Dávid Holman’s fierce shot heading just under the bar, before two minutes later Dominik Cipf won a corner at the other end. He also took the corner and his delivery was met first-time in the middle by Krisztián Kirchner, who blasted the ball under the bar to make it 1–0 to Kozármisleny.
Taking the lead visibly gave the home side momentum and confidence, while we tried to reorganise as quickly as possible so we could attack for an equaliser, but we were unable to find our rhythm. Ábel Krajcsovics and Richárd Vernes came on for the closing stages (with Gergely Kocsis also joining later), but unfortunately to no avail: we could no longer create a serious chance, and in stoppage time Péter Horváth scored Kozármisleny’s second goal at the end of a quick counter-attack, leaving us with a 2–0 defeat.
