Four wins, one draw, an upset and an overtake – that was the weekend record for our youth teams.

Our U19 team visited second-placed Vasas-Kubala Akadémia and, playing excellent football, eventually recorded a four-goal victory, moving to within four points of the podium places.

Budapest Honvéd FC U19–Vasas-Kubala Akadémia U19 4–0

Goals: Alarishi (21.), Botos (35.), Csákány (87.), Igricz (89.).

László Takács, head coach:

We played well in the previous match, but because we lost in the final minute we returned home disappointed from Felcsút. During the week we discussed the areas where we still need to improve so that good football is also rewarded with victory. We started well against Vasas, were stable at the back, and although our play on the ball was a little rushed, we created chances and converted two of them. At half-time we prepared for Vasas to do everything possible to get back into the game, which would leave spaces for us. They had more of the ball early in the second half, but we could have settled the match on the counter; those opportunities were missed. In the middle of the half we had a poor fifteen-minute spell in which we could not keep the ball and our defending was not stable enough. We got through that period without the visitors creating a major chance, and in the final minutes we scored two more goals from counterattacking opportunities. We are happy to have secured our first spring victory, which was important for the players’ confidence as well.

Our U17 side faced a 'six-pointer' in Szeged, where after a quick exchange of goals in the closing stages the teams shared the points. Vasas currently leads the table, but has played one match more than Márton Bogdánfi’s side, which remains first on points dropped.

Szeged-Csanád Grosics Akadémia U17–Budapest Honvéd FC U17 1–1

Goals: Tóth N. (82.), and Bogdán (84.).

Márton Bogdánfi, head coach:

"We got exactly the kind of match we had prepared for. Szeged ceded the initiative and defended the spaces in an organised way while running a great deal, looking to counter from there. We searched for openings and tried to dictate the tempo, but today our attacking play lacked an outstanding individual performance. The chances we did have were unfortunately missed. We can only blame ourselves for failing to win this match."

Our U16 side, sitting second, hosted Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia. With both Vasas and PMFC winning, the key questions remained unchanged. Viktor Petrók’s team is six points behind the Budapest side and five points ahead of Pécs.

Budapest Honvéd FC U16–Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia U16 2–1

Goals: Shodunke (49.), Érsek (68.), and Kovbasiuk (56.).

With a three-goal victory our U15 team can also look forward to the continuation from a higher position. István Körtvélyesi’s side moved up and is now only one point behind the currently third-placed Felcsút team.

Vasas-Kubala Akadémia U15–Budapest Honvéd FC U15 0–3

Goals: Vérten (12.), Ottó (28.), Babalola (72.).

István Körtvélyesi, head coach:

"We started the match with very good tempo and approach. From the first minute we were able to dominate and impose dynamic football. Defensively we took away the spaces from our opponents, so they could not really develop their attacks. In attack, several elements we had practised appeared in our play. In creativity and quality we managed to rise above our opponent. From midway through the second half the midfield battle became more even, but we still scored another goal and our own goal was never under serious threat. Congratulations to the team!"

Tamás Szamosi’s players left the pitch victorious for the third match in a row. Considering they had celebrated only two wins in the previous 15 rounds, they are currently in excellent form. This weekend they beat third-placed DVTK after a great battle.

Budapest Honvéd FC U14–DVTK U14 2–1

Goals: Pisont (16.), Palásti (43.), and Váradi (21.).

Tamás Szamosi:

"We played a very good match against DVTK, who are third in the table. During the week we talked about many tactical details and how we could be successful against our opponent. The boys can be proud of themselves because they really wanted the victory and did everything for it on the pitch!"
