Birthdays

September 22:

Ferenc Ölvedy, one of the well-travelled inside-lefts of early Hungarian football, was born 126 years ago. He played in Czechoslovakia and later in Modena, Italy, where for two years he was regarded as the team's record goalscorer. He scored 20 goals in 50 league matches for Kispest FC.

September 23:

We wish a happy 72nd birthday to Zsolt Kiss, the former owner of Budapest Honvéd, who worked for the Kispest club with heart and soul for years. We wish him strength, health and happiness on his birthday!

Lajos Odry was born 113 years ago. As a player, coach and referee, he did a great deal for Hungarian football. At Kispest FC he played alongside Ferenc Puskás Sr, and also appeared with the young Bozsik and Puskás Öcsi. Later, as player-coach, he successfully led Kispesti AC's amateur side. We remember him with respect on his birthday.

István Solti was born on this day 93 years ago. He joined Bp. Honvéd in 1954 and became champion with Kispest that same year. In the 1957/1958 season he won silver, one year later bronze, and later won the Central European Cup with Honvéd.

September 24:

One of the greatest figures in Kispest football, József Nemes, was born 114 years ago. The player, outstanding both as a centre-forward and later as an inside-right, spent the finest years of his career in Kispest, where he was a leader of the team for more than a decade. One unforgettable memory for supporters is his hat-trick for Hungary against Greece in just 14 minutes. Nemes remained loyal to Kispest even in difficult times: he led the team during the war years and was also part of the side that won the Saint Ladislaus Cup. He served his beloved club not only on the pitch but off it as well, working as a coach and board member to build Kispest's youth system and future. The greatest names of Kispest football – József Bozsik and Ferenc Puskás – also regarded him as a role model. On his birthday we remember József Nemes with great respect

September 25:

Happy 35th birthday to Tonci Kukoc-Petraello! The former Honvéd player always fought wholeheartedly for the red-and-black colours, and we still fondly remember his enthusiasm and fighting spirit on the pitch.

Happy 60th birthday to Aurél Csertői! The excellent professional played for Kispest between 1998 and 1999, scoring 5 goals in 36 league matches in the red-and-black shirt. In 2023 he also returned to the Honvéd bench as a coach, making him part of the club's history both on the pitch and in the dugout.

September 26:

Happy 59th birthday to István Sallói, Honvéd's silver-medal-winning striker and the player who scored a Champions League goal against Manchester United!

Happy 29th birthday to Márk Koszta! Our forward made his top-flight debut in the colours of Budapest Honvéd. One of the finest chapters of his career was being part of Honvéd's 2017 championship triumph, which wrote a golden chapter in our club's history. We wish him much happiness, good health and further success!

Károly Déri, nicknamed “Poldi”, was born on this day 115 years ago and played for Kispest between 1935 and 1940. His left flank partnership with Serényi was one of the red-and-blacks' most feared weapons for years. When he departed, his words reflected his attachment to the Kispest community: he spoke with gratitude about his teammates, club officials and the supporters' affection. We remember him with respect and affection on his birthday.

September 28:

Tibor Palicskó was born on this day 97 years ago. The defender achieved fine success with Honvéd, winning gold in 1954 and 1955 and silver in 1953. He received the title of Meritorious Athlete of the Hungarian People's Republic twice, in 1955 and 1956. We remember him with respect and affection.

Those who passed away

September 24:

Károly Csimár died on this day 79 years ago. The renowned master builder and patron not only shaped the townscape of Kispest with lasting buildings but was also a defining figure in sporting life. He was the first president and a generous supporter of Kispesti AC, whose financial and moral contribution laid the foundations for the club's development. On the anniversary of his death, we remember him with gratitude and respect.

Győző Gregor, the centre-half of Kispesti AC, died on this day 40 years ago. In 1926 he became a hero of the club's first cup triumph by scoring the winning goal in the final. Not only as a player, but also as a clerk, coach and chief cashier, he was a pillar of sporting life in Kispest. The Kispest family preserves his memory with gratitude.

September 25:

On this day we remember Ferenc Bátori, a founding member, player and versatile official of Kispesti AC, who served Kispest football for decades. He took part in building KAC's first ground, held numerous positions at the club, and later became vice-president and executive president of Kispest FC. In the 1930s he also did much for the club's reputation as leader of Kispest's foreign tours. He died in 1954; we preserve his memory with respect.

September 27:

Sándor Budai III died on this day 15 years ago. During his brief Kispest career he first won silver and then bronze with Honvéd. In 1959 he left for Egyetértés. We preserve his memory

On this day we remember Ádám Boldog, Kispest's former right winger, coach and club official, who loyally served the red-and-blacks as a player, coach and executive. With his enthusiasm and loyalty to the club, he earned a lasting place in the history of Kispest football.

We preserve his memory with respect.
