We look at this week's birthdays and the more significant anniversaries linked to the club.

Birthdays

April 6:

— Dr Eszterhás István was born 119 years ago. His work as a club official fell during one of the most difficult periods in history, the years of the Second World War, when those running the club carried particularly great responsibility. From 1939 he served as vice-president of Kispest FC and from 1943 as co-president, helping the club to operate.

April 9:

— Esterházy Márton celebrates his 70th birthday. The outstanding international striker achieved major success at club level as well: he won three league titles with Honvéd and also earned a league bronze medal. He enjoyed success in the Hungarian Cup too, collecting one winner's medal as well as one silver and one bronze. Happy birthday!

— Józsa Sándor was born on this day 87 years ago. A product of the club's own academy, he represented the team between 1957 and 1962, serving Bp. Honvéd as a defender.

April 11:

— Serbian centre-back Aleksandar Ignjatović celebrates his 38th birthday. He strengthened Honvéd's defence as a member of the team that won league bronze in 2013.

April 12:

— Fürstner János was born on this day 107 years ago. As a forward for Kispest FC he served the club between 1924 and 1932. During that time he made 167 competitive appearances and scored 68 goals, making him one of the era's prolific attackers.

— Villányi Lajos, a reliable, tough former Kispest defender, was born 107 years ago. He represented the Kispest side during the difficult wartime years between 1941 and 1944.

— Dr Lévay Tibor, a home-grown player, was born 77 years ago. He played as goalkeeper for Bp. Honvéd between 1960 and 1974. Over his long career, his consistency and loyalty contributed to the club's successes.

Those who passed away

April 7:

— Gaubek Rezső died 62 years ago. He was a board member of the 1908 initiative and took part in founding the club as a founding member of Kispesti AC in 1909. Between 1923 and 1927 he served as KAC's auditor. We preserve his memory with respect.

April 9:

— Fodor Imre died in tragic circumstances 27 years ago. The international midfielder represented Bp. Honvéd between 1986 and 1991. During his Kispest career he won 4 league titles and 1 Hungarian Cup. We preserve his memory with respect.

— 106 years ago Krausz Jenő, whose proposal led the club to adopt the name Kispesti AC, died 106 years ago. He was a founding member in 1909, KAC's first vice-president and, from 1911, executive president. He served the club both as an official and a player, and during the First World War worked as team manager. Jenő Krausz handled KAC's football affairs for nine years. He remained KAC's executive president until his death in April 1920. He died six rounds before the end of the championship and therefore did not live to see the club's first major success, the league silver medal.

April 11:

— Gazdag István died on this day 47 years ago. He represented Kispest FC as a left-back between 1941 and 1944. He was part of the team that won the Szent László Cup in 1944, a success achieved in the difficult historical circumstances of the period. We preserve his memory with respect.
