October 13:
On this day 112 years ago, István Gazdag was born. The outstanding defender strengthened the Kispest team for three years. He also proved his talent as a two-time Hungary B international, and in the autumn of 1944 he was part of the Kispest side that won the Szent László Cup. We preserve his memory with respect!
October 15:
André Alves was born 42 years ago. The Brazilian striker burst onto the Budapest Honvéd scene in 2005. Early in the league campaign, against Ferencváros, he wrote his name into the club’s history with three spectacular headed goals.
On this day, Gábor Márton celebrates his 59th birthday. The international midfielder also left a lasting mark in a Honvéd shirt with his technique and football intelligence. He won bronze with the Kispest side in 1992 and gold in 1993.
Happy birthday to Leandro Martinez, the Argentine-born, Italian citizen left winger who helped the team to a league bronze medal with six goals during his short spell in Kispest.
October 17:
On this day, Antal Nagy, former Bp. Honvéd captain and a key figure in Mezey’s Hungary team of the 1980s, celebrates his 69th birthday. He was renowned for his heart, fighting spirit and leadership. He never gave up on a lost ball, and with his excellent heading and combative style became a pillar of both Honvéd and the Hungarian national team. He was captain on the pitch, leader and spokesman in the dressing room. His Kispest career is marked by 279 league appearances, four league titles, one MNK triumph and 28 international caps.
István László celebrates his 66th birthday. He joined Kispest in 1985 and during his short Honvéd career became a member of the championship-winning team, making 16 appearances and scoring one goal. He left Honvéd in 1986.
October 18:
Happy birthday to Lajos Szurgent, an eternal champion and legendary figure of the club. The striker, who celebrates his 81st birthday, arrived at Honvéd as an aggressive centre-forward with an eye for goal, and later served the club faithfully and humbly for decades as coach and assistant coach. His career is an example of how not only goals but also perseverance and loyalty can make someone a legend.
On this day 125 years ago, József Sándor was born, one of the reliable and tireless figures from the dawn of Kispest football. He could play both as a half-back and a forward, and his diligence and work rate made him especially valuable on the pitch. We preserve his memory with respect.
Those who passed away
October 15:
On the 27th anniversary of his death, we remember Sándor Olajkár, the versatile footballer born in Kispest in 1918. He was a true utility player who could perform not only in attack but also in defence and even as a goalkeeper – serving his teams with rare versatility. We preserve his memory forever.
We remember István Szovják, who passed away 40 years ago. The right winger developed by Bp. Honvéd played only nine league matches for the club, but during his career he won league titles in 1954 and 1955 and a silver medal in 1953.
