Budapest Honvéd will play three matches in five days during its training camp in Turkey, with the first taking place on Monday against FC Drita, the leaders of the Kosovo top flight.
What you should know about FC Drita:
Founded: 1947
Club colours: blue and white
Nationality: Kosovan
Based in: Gijlan
League champions: 3x
Cup winners: 1x
Our opponents were founded in 1947, but competed in the Kosovo Provincial League until the break-up of Yugoslavia. They joined the independent Kosovo championship in 1991 and did not have to wait even ten years for their first successful era: Drita won the Kosovo Cup in 2001 and became champions for the first time in their history two years later. The blue-and-whites returned to the top in the 2017-18 season and, with Kosovo by then a member of UEFA, they were able to play their first international match in the summer of 2018, successfully overcoming Andorran side Santa Coloma in the Champions League. Since then, Drita have played a further four qualifying ties in the Champions League, three in the Europa League and eight in the Conference League, although they have yet to reach the main stage. Even so, they have held regular European group-stage participants such as Feyenoord, Viktoria Plzen and Antwerp to draws on several occasions in qualifying.
This season Drita came very close to reaching the Conference League league phase. After eliminating Iceland's Breidablík and Latvia's Auda, they made it to the play-offs, where Polish side Legia Warsaw proved too strong. In the league, however, the team is flying: they have lost only two league matches in the 2024-25 season and also put together a 15-match unbeaten run in competitive fixtures. They currently lead the Kosovo top flight by seven points over defending champions Ballkani. Their pursuers became the first Kosovan team to play in the Conference League group stage last year.
According to Transfermarkt, their squad is valued at 5.2 million euros, almost one and a half times the value of ours.
Their most prolific player is Kosovo international Albert Dabiqaj, who has found the net nine times in competitive matches. The team is coached by North Macedonian Zekirija Ramadani.
We last faced a Kosovan team in a pre-season match in 2018, when we suffered a 1-0 defeat against FK Trepca Mitrovce. Our most recent win over Kosovan opposition came in the summer of 2011, when we beat Trepca 3-0.
Our head coach Tamás Feczkó has also previously faced a Kosovan team: as head coach of Kisvárda, his side drew 0-0 with Feronikeli a year ago.
For technical reasons there will be no online broadcast of the match; once the game has finished, we will report on events in written form.
