Story of the current season:

After a poor start to the season, Ajka stabilised in mid-table by the autumn, but they began the spring just as they had started the autumn, without a goal or a point. As a result, Szabolcs Schindler departed a week ago and interim head coach Bálint Gaál then guided the Veszprém county side to victory in Szeged, keeping them just above the relegation line.

Squad:

Several former Honvéd players currently play for Ajka. One only has to think of Nikolasz Kovács and Gergely Bobál, who left in the summer, while Nikola Pantovic also began his career in Kispest. Interestingly, two Honvéd-developed players, Mihály Krisztián Nagy and Gyula Csemer, left the team during the winter.

Head-to-head history:

Looking only at first-team matches, we have mostly faced Ajka in friendlies so far (Honvéd II previously met Ajka's first team six times).

Until 2020 the sides had met in only two friendlies, with Kispest winning 4-1 in 1970 and 4-3 in 2006.

Over the past four years, however, the teams have met no fewer than eight times. In the summer of 2020 we drew 2-2 in a friendly at the Ajka Városi Sports Centre, with our goals scored by Kristóf Tóth-Gábor and Barna Kesztyűs. Ajka came back from two goals down, with current top scorer Zoltán Csizmadia getting their equaliser.

The four-goal draw was followed by friendlies in Kispest. In 2021 we won 1-0 through a goal from Gergő Nagy, while in 2022 the teams drew 1-1. Interestingly, our goal in that match was scored by Nikolasz Kovács, who now plays for Ajka. In the summer of 2023 we again hosted Ajka in a friendly and completed the match with a convincing 3-0 win.

In November 2023 we hosted the green-and-whites in a league match at the Bozsik Arena and won 1-0 through a goal from Gergely Bobál, who now plays for Ajka.

Honvéd–Ajka 1–0 (highlights):

During the winter the two sides met again in a friendly, which ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Interestingly, one of Ajka's goals was scored by a Honvéd-developed player, Mihály Krisztián Nagy, while current interim head coach Bálint Gaál provided the assist for their second goal. For us, Ábel Krajcsovics scored, while Bence Jagodics put through his own net.

In May 2024 we played in Ajka for the third time, but for the first time in a competitive match. Goals from Ábel Krajcsovics and Zalán Kerezsi earned us all three points.

Ajka–Honvéd 0–2 (highlights)

We most recently played Ajka in August. Although Kerezsi's header gave us an early lead, Borsos and Doncsecz turned the match around for Ajka.
