Our women's team won their eighth consecutive competitive match after securing a 2–0 victory away at Szekszárd last Saturday, courtesy of goals from Fanni Vachter and Maria Palama. Time flies; although it might feel like the season has ‘only just begun’, we are already approaching the final matches of the year. Only three competitive fixtures remain for our women's team this calendar year: we host PMFC on Saturday, followed by clashes against ETO FC and Újpest. Recent rounds have not been favorable for the Baranya County side, as they have failed to win any of their last five league matches; nevertheless, they did pull off a surprise against defending champions Ferencváros. They held the Green and Whites to a 1–1 draw, picking up a point against the capital outfit for the first time in more than two years.

Women's football in Pécs boasts a tradition spanning more than half a century. Its history dates back to 1970, when a young girl from Pécs with a passion for football placed an advertisement in Ifjúsági Magazin looking for fellow players who shared her love of the game. Women's small-sided teams were already emerging throughout the 1970s, before women's football in Pécs transitioned into a more organized framework in 1989, when Pécsi Dohánygyár founded a women's team and entered the Nemzeti Bajnokság. Last season, PMFC finished eighth in the top tier. Their most recent championship celebration came in the 2023–2024 season, when they won the second division, thereby securing promotion back to the top flight.
Head-to-head:
The two sides have met five times in the top flight so far, with a fairly balanced record of two Kispest victories, two draws, and one win for Pécs. We last faced Zsolt Németh's team at the end of August in Round 3 of the Simple Női Liga, when Maria Palama's goal secured all three points away in Pécs.
