Previous meetings:
The rivalry between Honvéd and Vasas has an enormous history in the annals of Hungarian football.
- The anniversary of the first league meeting is very close, as we first faced Vasas on December 3, 1916, drawing 1-1 at the MTK ground, with Zoltán Túri scoring our goal. A year earlier, in the League Championship, we beat Vasas 1-0 with a goal from Lajos Szűcs.
- The first Kispest league victory came in 1919, when Rudolf Jeny's goal gave us a 1-0 win over our Budapest rivals.
- The first emphatic Kispest away success came in 1931, when we thrashed the red-and-blues 5-0 on their own ground. Lajos Kormos scored twice, while István Lukács, Lajos Keresztes and Imre Serényi also found the net.
- In 1946 and 1953 fate paired us with Vasas in the Evening Cup. The former brought a 4-2 Kispest victory, while Vasas won the latter. Ferenc Puskás also scored in the 4-2 match; with 19 goals, he is the highest scorer in the history of this fixture.
- Between 1950 and 1956 we produced our longest unbeaten league run against Vasas, going 13 matches without defeat. During that period our record was 9 Kispest wins and 4 draws, including a 4-4 draw and a 6-1 Kispest victory.
- The first Honvéd-Vasas cup final was played in 1955. The Angyalföld side won 3-2, then also beat us in the 1974 final in another high-scoring match, 4-3.
- One year after the Match of the Century, supporters travelling to Angyalföld witnessed one of the highest-scoring encounters, as Honvéd, led by Sándor Kocsis and Lajos Tichy, returned home from Fáy utca with a 6-3 victory.
- In 1964, 85,000 spectators saw Lajos Tichy's magic and Honvéd's comeback live: Vasas still led 3-2 in Kispest in the 86th minute, then came two flashes from Tichy, first in the 87th and then in the 89th minute, and the match ended in a 4-3 Honvéd win.
- In 1975 at the Népstadion we beat Vasas 2-1 in the Tournament of Champions with goals from István Weimper and Lajos Kocsis. Honvéd won not only the match but the tournament as well.
- Between 1981 and 1984 we beat Vasas in six consecutive matches. In those games we scored 14 goals and conceded only 3.
- We first met the red-and-blues in the second division in the 2003-04 season. We won 1-0 at home and drew 1-1 away. Our goals were scored by István Borgulya and Gábor Vén.
- A special situation arose in the 2012-13 season, as Vasas faced Honvéd II in league action in the Eastern group of NB II. The Angyalföld side won both matches.
- In the season of our most recent league title, we played Vasas three times in NB I, but managed to win only at home, losing both away matches.
- We hosted Vasas at the Bozsik Aréna for the first time in 2022, when a late brace from Nenad Lukics decided the match and gave us a 2-0 win. That season we won both league matches played in Angyalföld.

- Last season we met our rivals twice. In November 2023 Vasas won 3-0, with Soma Novothny, András Radó and Zsombor Berecz scoring their goals, while in May we also suffered two red cards, which Milán Tóth punished with two goals and Áron Doktorics with one.
- We have already faced Vasas this season, in early July at the second stop of our pre-season programme. The first 45 minutes went excellently, as goals from Zalán Kerezsi and Alex Szabó put us 2-0 ahead, but in the second half Milán Tóth scored twice before M Sándor Hidi decided the contest in favour of the visitors.
- Interestingly, Zsolt Laczkó's coaching career in Kispest partly began against Vasas, as he started as Honvéd II coach with a 3-2 win in the NB III South-East group. Richárd Vernes, who has played for both Honvéd and Vasas, also scored in that match.
