We recorded a commanding 6–0 win away to Monor SE in Saturday's friendly. Somogyi Tamás scored his first goal for our senior team, while new signing Adi Alič marked his debut with two goals.

As is known, on Wednesday we beat Soroksár 2–0 through goals from Medgyes Zoltán and Pinte Patrik. That was our final home friendly, and on Saturday we continued our summer programme away to partner club Monor SE to mark the 125th anniversary of their foundation. (You can find our summer pre-season schedule here.) Monor were relegated from NB II in the 2018–19 season and have played in the third tier ever since. Halgas István's side won the South-East Group but lost their promotion play-off against Gyirmót, so they were unable to move up at the end of the season.

The match began with a farewell ceremony for Bozsó Antal as he brought his active playing career to a close. Our team started energetically and created three dangerous attacks in quick succession: after Gyurcsó Ádám's cross, Zuigeber Ákos – who registered a goal and an assist against Lendva – headed just wide of the left post. A few minutes later Zuigeber tried his luck from the edge of the box, before Gyurcsó aimed for the far corner from 14 metres. In the 14th minute Kállai Kevin played Zuigeber Ákos through, and he found the perfectly timed run of Gyurcsó Ádám, who calmly rolled the ball into the net (0–1). It was the second goal of the summer preparation period for our 35-year-old player. Not long afterwards Kállai tried from distance, but home goalkeeper Genzler Gellért produced an excellent save. As the first half approached its midpoint, Kovács Erik beat his man with a fine piece of skill and laid the ball off to Gyurcsó, whose low shot went wide of the left post. In the 36th minute Genzler saved Kállai's third effort of the game, but we did not have to wait long for our second goal: after Zuigeber headed the ball into the middle, Somogyi Tamás calmly finished into the net (0–2). In the final seconds before half-time Pekár István tripled our lead (0–3).

The game continued at a high tempo after the restart and we created several chances before Somogyi Ádám's pass released Szamosi Ádám, who followed up goals against Kisvárda and NK Nafta Lendava by also finding the net against Monor (0–4). In the 77th minute Szamosi spotted Alič making a run between the defenders and played him through; the new signing confidently converted the chance to score his first goal in Honvéd colours (0–5). Late on, our new player confidently converted a penalty awarded to us, completing a dream debut with two goals (0–6).
