In mid-July we signed Osman Hadzikic on a 1+1-year contract. Our Bosnian goalkeeper, who missed the World Cup because of injury, made his league debut against Vasas and quickly had a major impact on the team, with several spectacular saves giving our side confidence. He has continued to deliver consistent performances between the posts ever since. In the 17th minute of the derby against Vasas, in front of our supporters, he produced a 'double' when the Angyalföld side created a chance, making two big saves in quick succession to demonstrate his ability early on. This did not escape public attention either: his save was selected as the best of August by M4 Sport, and since then he has also recorded a clean sheet (against ZTE FC).
“It was not the debut I had dreamed of because we could not win. I was very disappointed because of that. Of course I am happy to receive this award, but we wanted to win this derby and we did not manage to do so. Maybe next time!” – our 30-year-old goalkeeper told our official website.
“It is an amazing feeling to be here because Honvéd is an incredibly big club with its history and its supporters. A lot of people come to every match and support us; the way they cheer for us non-stop for ninety minutes is incredible. I really love that! I want to continue helping the team as much as possible and contribute to achieving our goals. As for me, I would like to finish the season with as many clean sheets and wins as possible.” – he added.
