Although the country is enjoying a long weekend on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight, NB I does not stop; in fact, for the 35th anniversary of Ultras Kispest, the Northern Curve (Északi Kanyar) – just like our team – is preparing with special dedication for this day. The pre-match events start as early as 12:45 at Lipták Grund, followed by celebrations during and after the match.
Following an important away victory against Nyíregyháza, we return to home turf at the Bozsik Aréna in Round 11 of the OTP Bank Liga. On Saturday from 14:30, our team hosts 7th-placed Debreceni VSC. The season had a difficult start for our weekend rivals, who clearly suffered from having to compete on two fronts. They opened with two defeats, but have since stabilized their game: suffering only a single defeat in the following eight rounds. The Debrecen side pulled off remarkable results by taking points away at both ETO and Fradi, thereby climbing back into the mid-table.
The goal difference of the Hajdú-Bihar outfit also mirrors their league standing: in ten matches, they have scored 16 goals and conceded just as many. In the previous round – thanks to a brace from Baldoni Sohan – they secured a confident 3–0 home win against ZTE FC. Furthermore, two of their players feature in the league's top ten goalscorers: Ákos Szendrei with 5 goals and team captain Balázs Dzsudzsák with 4 goals have been leading the way for their side.
The two sides last met in the MOL Hungarian Cup round of 32 a year ago at the Nagyerdei Stadion: although an early strike from Balázs Dzsudzsák gave Loki the lead, Pauljevic equalized in the 55th minute, and in extra time, Zuigeber's screamer sent our team through to the next round.
As for top-flight league encounters, the teams last clashed in May 2023 in Debrecen, where they shared the points following a goalless draw. At home, our most recent victory over the Red-and-Whites came in the spring of 2022, when we triumphed 4–2 in a high-scoring thriller to keep all three points in Kispest.
