Our team take to the field for the first time this season on Saturday from 17:00, facing league rivals Kisvárda at the Bozsik Arena and beginning our series of summer friendlies.
As was revealed on Monday, we will also face the Szabolcs side at the start of the OTP Bank Liga at the end of July, although that match will be played with the red-and-whites as the home team. Maurizio Jacobacci can therefore contest both his first friendly and his first competitive match as Honvéd head coach against Kisvárda.
Information for supporters:
- The match starts at 17:00 on Saturday at the Bozsik Arena
- Admission to the friendly is free, but we would like to draw our supporters' attention to the fact that only Sector C will be open. Entry will be through the C gate group. Gates open one hour before kick-off, at 16:00.
- The match will be broadcast live on our official YouTube channel.
What you should know about Kisvárda FC:
Founded: 1911
Club colours: red and white
League: OTP Bank Liga
Best league finish: 2nd (2021–22)
Last season's finish: 8th
Head coach: Supka Attila
Kisvárda played continuously in NB I between 2018 and 2024 and returned immediately to the top flight after just one season in the second tier. They finished last season in eighth place after an eight-match winless run. The club qualified for the Conference League qualifiers in 2022 after finishing second in NB I. They successfully negotiated one European round before Norwegian side Molde ended their run. This was the most successful period in the club's history; in addition, they won the second division in 2025 and reached the Hungarian Cup semi-finals in 2021.
Familiar faces:
A familiar coach took charge of Kisvárda this summer, and he needs no introduction in Kispest: Révész Attila handed the reins to Supka Attila.
Supka previously coached Honvéd in three spells: first from 2006 to 2008, when he also won the Hungarian Cup, then from 2011 to 2012, and finally from January 2018 to May 2019.
At the end of his third spell he again guided Kispest to a cup final, although our team lost that final against Videoton. He previously coached Kisvárda in the 2020–21 season, finishing fifth – still the second-best NB I placing in the club's history.
Their squad contains three players developed by Honvéd, including Bíró Bence, who was their leading scorer last season with seven goals, as well as twins Soltész Dominik and István, who also entered senior football from Kispest. Although all three were trained at the Hungarian Football Academy, none made a competitive appearance for Honvéd's first team.
Head-to-head meetings:
Although Saturday's opponents returned to NB I as champions in spring 2025, they could not establish an advantage over us: we took four points from the two league matches. During the spring stage they lost only to us, while in the autumn we were also just minutes away from victory on a memorable freezing November evening.
Our most recent meeting was particularly memorable. Révész's team arrived in Kispest already confirmed as champions and unbeaten in sixteen matches. Our side lined up with a reshuffled team because of suspensions and injuries, but we outperformed our opponents not only in play but also on the scoresheet: Pauljevic's thunderbolt and Hetyei Szilveszter's dream debut were highlights of a 3–0 victory.
Our overall record against Kisvárda is 17 matches, 5 wins, 6 draws and 6 defeats, with a goal difference of 24:23. Four of those seventeen matches were played at the Bozsik Arena and none ended in an away win: the record is two Honvéd victories and two draws.
Our last five matches against Kisvárda:
2024–25: Honvéd–Kisvárda 3–0 (Our scorers: Pauljevic, Matic – own goal, Hetyei)
2024–25: Kisvárda–Honvéd 1–1 (Our scorer: Ihrig-Farkas)
2022–23: Kisvárda–Honvéd 2–2 (Our scorers: Lukic, Kerezsi)
2022–23: Honvéd–Kisvárda 1–1 (Our scorer: Lukic)
2022–23: Kisvárda–Honvéd 0–1 (Our scorer: Lukic)
