Previous meetings:
Honvéd II and Hódmezővásárhely met in the NB III Alföld group in both the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. The two home games first produced a 5-1 Kispest win and, a year later, a 0-0 draw, while the meetings in Vásárhely both ended in one-goal home victories.
The two sides met again in the 2017-18 season after almost 10 years. We first drew 1-1 away, then won 3-0 at home with goals from Lukács, Tömösvári and Kabangu.
The following season we ended our winless run in Vásárhely, when a brace from Milán Májer and a goal from Norbert Szendrei earned us three points. At the end of the season, however, our excellent home run against HFC came to an end after a 2-1 defeat at our temporary home in Csepel.
In the season following Hódmezővásárhely's promotion, both matches produced a Kispest goal-fest: we won 4-1 at home and 5-2 away. The latter match is also interesting because Kevin Török started for Honvéd II at the time, while among the goalscorers Barna Benczenleitner and Noel Keresztes are now members of Honvéd's first team.
Our current player Balázs Rácz also knows what it is like to score against Hódmezővásárhely, as his brace earned us a 3-1 away win in 2021. Unfortunately, since then we have gone five matches without beating the South Great Plain side.
Our most recent trip to Hódmezővásárhely came in May this year, when a Benedek Simon goal gave us the lead in the 36th minute. Although former academy player Kevin Török equalised, Zana scored in the 74th minute to keep all three points at home.
The two teams met in Kispest in Round 2 of this season. We took an early lead when, after Vernes's shot, the ball rebounded out off the post and went into the net off Donát Dóra, but Guth rescued a point for the visitors late on.
