A Hungarian Cup winner with experience in both the first and second divisions is joining our team after our club reached an agreement with PAFC for Zsombor Bévárdi to spend the 2024/2025 season on loan at Budapest Honvéd, with the deal including an option to buy. The 25-year-old primarily plays as a full-back and can operate on either the right or left, both in defence and as a wide player; his versatility could prove valuable for Honvéd.
“I really liked what the management outlined about the future. I have come to the club with serious ambitions and I want to play a role in this project, in rebuilding Honvéd; I came here to help the team. I started my career as a winger, then because of circumstances I was used at right-back, and the wing-back role also suits me because it allows me to bring out my strengths“ – said Zsombor Bévárdi.
Zsombor Bévárdi began his career in Siófok, then played for Főnix Gold FC, the youth club of Dominik Szoboszlai, before working his way through the ranks at Felcsút. He made his senior debut with Fehérvár (for the second team and in the Hungarian Cup), then spent two full seasons in the Merkantil Bank Liga with Siófok and Vasas (58 league appearances), while he made his NB I debut in the spring of 2020 with Kaposvár as a DVSC loanee.
From the summer of 2020 he played for Debrecen for three and a half seasons, featuring in 27 matches for the side that won the Merkantil Bank Liga, before making 55 league appearances for DVSC in the OTP Bank Liga. In the spring season he represented PAFC, appearing in six league games.
“I have already gained experience in both the first and second divisions, and I know there is a difference between the two leagues, especially in terms of physicality. Honvéd have a young squad and I hope the experience I have gained so far can help the team succeed – continued Zsombor Bévárdi. – Of the current squad, Norbert Kundrák was previously my team-mate, while I have faced most of the others as opponents. There are quality players in the squad and I hope we can gel as quickly as possible. As for my goals, I would like to play in as many matches as possible; if I could, I would play in every game and help Honvéd with good performances, while as a team we want to finish as high up the table as possible.“
We warmly welcome Zsombor Bévárdi to Kispest and wish him every success at Honvéd!
