As is known, on Sunday it became certain that after three years our team will once again compete in the top flight. The success is the result of collective work: players, coaches, staff members and supporters all contributed, everyone working toward the same goal. The road was not easy, but we achieved one of our most important objectives. Our 23-year-old defender is enjoying one of the best seasons of his senior career: with two rounds remaining, he has already scored ten league goals.
“It is sensational that we achieved promotion; that was our biggest goal. I can hardly wait to celebrate together with the lads. I am very happy that I was able to contribute ten goals, but that is not what matters. Everyone put the same amount of work into this and every single person was needed for us to achieve it together. From the last member of staff to the kit manager and the supporter who travelled with us to Szeged or to any other match. What we achieved is huge. Considering last season and where we started from, I think we can be immensely proud to be standing here now.”
Dominik Csontos joined our club at the beginning of 2025 and says that from the very first day his focus was on winning promotion to NB I.
“A very good staff joined the team and quality signings arrived. They also outlined to me why this project could be a good one. Even then I said that I was not coming here just to keep Honvéd in NB II. Obviously, as we were bottom of the table at the time, that was the immediate goal, but I was planning for the long term. I think I made the best decision, and so did the team by standing by the club. What we achieved is huge, and from the very first day I had this moment in my mind: to stand here now and say, we did it, we got promoted to NB I!”
Our player stressed that team unity is especially important because it has a major effect on performances on the pitch as well.
“Team unity and the atmosphere in the dressing room matter a great deal. Ours is excellent, and I think the cup showed that clearly: we knocked out two NB I sides and were only one minute away from doing the same to a third. We can be proud of our performance.”
On Sunday from 16:00 we play our final home match of the season against Vasas FC, who have also already secured promotion, although the battle for the league title is far from over.
There is huge interest in the derby, and ticket sales have already started, with tickets selling well but still available. Let as many of us as possible get behind the team at the Bozsik Aréna!”
