On Monday from 20:00 we will play away to current leaders Vasas in round 14 of the Merkantil Bank Liga. Our team last visited Angyalföld in the final round of the 2024/25 season, when the match ended in a 2–2 draw and our rivals remained in the second division. The stakes are high again now, with only three points separating the two teams, and after Sunday’s matches in the round both sides remain in the top two places.
Ahead of the Budapest derby, we spoke to one of the pillars of our team, Dominik Csontos.
"We played a useful friendly against DAC and managed to win as well. Our coach always stresses that the result matters to him even in friendlies, especially against a team competing in international cup football. In return for the victory we received a free weekend, the whole team recharged completely, and we are looking forward to the match against Vasas with renewed energy. We have two players available for every position, there is a good atmosphere in the dressing room and in training, where we are able to prepare for matches with a large group. I expect a big derby against Vasas, and it will be the same from our supporters. So far, wherever we have played away, we have never felt that we were not at home, and this time will be no different. I expect a fantastic match in a very good atmosphere. In derbies, only one thing really matters: bringing home the three points. We know how important this match is to our supporters, and we will take to the pitch with that in mind."
