The Hungary U21 national team played their final friendly ahead of the European Championship qualifiers beginning in September, away to Austria.
Our home-grown player István Pekár started the match in Wiener Neustadt and played the full game. Balázs Bakti’s goal had put us ahead, but the hosts came from behind.
Our 21-year-old player started for the U21 national team for the first time, in what was his second appearance at this age level.

István Pekár:
It felt good to be on the pitch, and I am sorry we were unable to win. In the first half we were able to get on top of them and what we had practised came through against them. In the second half we fell apart a little and the opposition took advantage of that well. Going forward, we have to aim to extend our first-half performance across the full 90 minutes.
