There is not much longer to wait before the spring “campaign” of the 2025–26 Merkantil Bank Liga season gets under way. Our team can look ahead to the restart in first place, three points ahead of Vasas. Our last competitive match was against BVSC-Zugló on November 30, and since then the team has come through a long break, a demanding preparation period and a training camp. With the spring restart we have also taken a step forward in the media space, as we have joined the “Csak a Honvéd!” programme on M4 Sport, which from now on is produced in cooperation with BHSE. Naturally, the first episode focused on the preparation period and the restart against Videoton.
“Every training camp has its own special character because it is planned in advance what we want to achieve both off the pitch and on it. Unfortunately, the weather conditions were not particularly kind to us in the matches this time, but that is part of it. What I am pleased about is that we made a lot of progress in matters off the pitch. The elements of our game that we could not practise as we wanted in matches became embedded in the players through the extensive video work. I very much hope these new elements of our play will also show in the spring matches. It was important for everyone to get the appropriate number of minutes, but not everyone is in the same physical condition. So we put together the right, manageable amount of playing time for everyone. I very much hope that will be reflected in the matches too. In the week behind us we have been settling back into the usual full weekly cycle” – said our head coach Tamás Feczkó, who also spoke about Monday’s opponent.
“This is a huge derby, a prestige match not only for the supporters but for the clubs as well, for both clubs. Both teams belong one division higher, which is evident not only from their history but also from the support base behind them. There was a sensational atmosphere at our away match, with a huge crowd in the stadium; we surpassed NB I attendance figures. That also shows how prestigious this fixture is. At home our objective can be nothing other than to win the match. It will be difficult, but regardless of the circumstances, we have to win at home” – he added.
