We drew 1–1 with Tiszakécske in round 9 of the Merkantil Bank Liga, but we still lead the league.

After the matches against Békéscsaba and Karcag, our team faced a third consecutive home league game, this time against Tiszakécskei LC. Due to injury, Tamás Feczkó was forced to leave Ádám Szamosi out of the squad, while our captain Szilveszter Hangya returned to the starting eleven. Tiszakécske started with Ádám Bódi, József Varga, Lucas and Myke Ramos.

The visitors had the first attempt in the 11th minute, but Tujvel comfortably gathered Pataki's effort down the middle. In the same minute, Zuigeber had an opportunity to score, but his header ended up in Prokop's hands.

In the 12th minute Medgyes sent Gyurcsó through, and after outrunning his defender he superbly slid the ball between Rostislav's legs – following his assist on Monday, this was his first goal for Honvéd (1–0). In the 31st minute, after Alex Szabó's pass forward, Medgyes shot from distance, but his effort flew over the bar. In the 32nd minute, 'Kécske launched a dangerous counter down our right, but Hangya cleared decisively in front of Bódi. In the 34th minute Somogyi got ahead of his man and at the same time played Gyurcsó into a scoring position. After brilliantly sending the visiting defenders the wrong way, he aimed for the far corner, but Prokop saved with his foot.

A minute later Kántor played Zuigeber into a big chance, but Prokop again denied our forward. In the 41st minute we pressed perfectly, Somogyi and Ujváry battled for the ball, before the former laid it off to Medgyes, whose shot went over the bar. In stoppage time Ramos kept dribbling until he worked himself into shooting position, and Tujvel had to produce a superb save to tip the effort away from under the crossbar. The first chance of the second half belonged to us: Gyurcsó sent Zuigeber through, who tried to square for Kántor, and although the pass did not reach our striker, the ball almost bounced into the bottom-left corner anyway, but Prokop was alert. In the 56th minute Hangya played a beautiful ball in behind the defence for Medgyes, and the ball eventually fell to Kántor. Our 25-year-old forward, who celebrated his birthday this week, tried to backheel the ball over the line, but Prokop again produced a fine save. In the 66th minute Ujváry fought hard again, and after that Lucas and Varga both blocked shots from Gyurcsó and Medgyes inside the penalty area in controversial circumstances. Then, in the 85th minute, the visitors equalised virtually out of nowhere: Bódi received a cross-field pass on the right and crossed into the middle, where substitute Tamás Takács headed into the net, giving Tujvel no chance (1–1). In stoppage time Alex Szabó came closest to scoring the winner, but Prokop once again saved his header. We dropped two points, but remain unbeaten at Bozsik Aréna and, as our rivals also stumbled, we still lead the league.

In round 10 of the league we travel to Kozármisleny, before hosting Mezővesd-Zsóry FC at home.

Tamás Feczkó, head coach:

It is very frustrating that we could not win a match like this. We took the lead quickly and after that we still had plenty of high-quality chances from which we could have scored our second and even third goal. In our previous matches combined we did not create as many scoring chances as we did today, although in open play Tiszakécske were an equal opponent, with possession shared evenly. It is frustrating that they were able to score a goal like that five minutes before the end. Unfortunately, this is a painful draw. We created clear chances in both the first and second half, but either made the wrong decision, missed the target or their goalkeeper saved. Last week we scored five goals without having this many chances. I could say that we have taken a step forward in our attacking play because we created high-quality opportunities, but our finishing leaves room for improvement.
