We went into the year’s final league match against BVSC-Zugló in first place after recording a 2–1 victory away to Vasas FC on Monday despite a severely depleted squad. Vasas also dropped points in the final act of the autumn in Ajka, suffering a 1–0 defeat, which made it certain that we would finish the autumn campaign in first place.
Tamás Feczkó once again could not prepare with a full squad, although Ákos Baki, Ádám Gyurcsó and Bonifác Csonka, who had missed the previous week through illness, were now able to take places on the bench. Even so, he made only one change to the starting eleven that had won on Monday: Ádám Somogyi came in for Dávid Gáspár. Before the match, our supporters commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of our legend József Bozsik with a magnificent tifo, while the ceremonial kick-off – as at the stadium inauguration – was taken by Péter Bozsik.
The visitors created the first chance in the third minute: after a corner, Vinícius headed wide. Two minutes later Medgyes shot first and Petroff saved with his foot, then the goalkeeper had to arch backwards to tip away Ujváry’s header. In the ninth minute Alex Szabó flicked on Csontos’s corner and István Pekár’s header crashed against the crossbar. In the 18th minute Pauljevic tried something ambitious from around 35 metres, forcing Petroff into a full-stretch save. In the 22nd minute Dragan Vukmir’s team also had a big chance, but Szilágyi missed by only centimetres. At the other end there was no such miss: after Hangya’s cross-field ball, the move went through Ujváry and Pinte before reaching Medgyes arriving perfectly through the middle. Just as against Vasas, our forward made no mistake and scored his fifth league goal (1–0). Interestingly, one round earlier we had also scored through the Pinte-Medgyes combination.
The parallel could have continued had Pekár headed in another goal from Csontos’s corner, just as in the previous round. In the 39th minute Medgyes sent Kántor through. In the crowd of players our forward could only poke the ball on to Pinte, who made no mistake and fired under the bar, but after a highly questionable decision the referee disallowed the goal for offside. In stoppage time Csontos delivered an excellent cross into the penalty area towards Alex Szabó lurking at the far post, and Szilágyi could only bring him down. Csontos confidently converted the resulting penalty, giving Petroff no chance (2–0).
In the 49th minute Medgyes shot through a crowd and Petroff saved. A few moments later László Pekár fouled István Pekár, after which Zimmermann sent the Zugló attacker for an early shower for serious foul play. In the 70th minute we came close to increasing our advantage further, but after a solo run Petroff tipped Medgyes’s shot, which was heading under the bar, over the goal. The key questions had already been settled as the match went on, but our team was not satisfied with that. In stoppage time Gyurcsó received the ball between the lines, then released Pauljevic at exactly the right moment as he raced forward down the right like an express train. He crossed for substitute Bence Varga arriving in the second wave at the far post, and he made no mistake: the ball flew into the net off the right-hand post with no chance for the goalkeeper (3–0). It was our defender’s first goal in Kispest colours. With the victory we secured first place in the table and will resume in early February with a three-point lead.

Tamás Feczkó, head coach:
Our goal was to win today’s match with a confident performance. Our victory was never in danger from the first minute; we dominated the game. The difference between the two teams was evident both in the way we played and in the chances we created. I am very happy that not only the club but also the supporters commemorated József Bozsik in such a beautiful way. The way the club handles its traditions is fantastic. The tifo was fantastic, and it was good to see Péter Bozsik take the ceremonial kick-off. A club is great because it builds on its traditions. If we are building the future, we also need the glorious past. The players know very well that this club does not belong here. Day after day they do everything they can. It is good to see that everyone can celebrate success together.
