The training camp in Turkey has come to an end, so our team prepared for the 9 February restart of the Merkantil Bank Liga with a total of four official friendlies (Kozármisleny, Slovan Bratislava II, Drita FC, FK Jedinstvo). Our team recently took part in a short training camp of just under a week in Side, where they beat Kosovan leaders Drita FC 2-0, then suffered an unfortunate 1-0 defeat against Montenegrin side Jedinstvo in the closing stages. We asked our forward Balázs Farkas about his experiences of the preparation period.
„I think our friendly matches went very well overall. In every match we could see the tactical and game-situation elements we had practised in training, and for the most part we managed to put them into practice on the pitch. We also improved physically; hopefully that will show in our league matches too and the period ahead of us will end positively" – said Farkas, who then also spoke about the importance of the training camp.
"The training camp is important above all so that the team can become even more united and the new players can settle in. The team is together for a week, we can get to know one another better not only on the pitch but off it too. These occasions can strengthen team cohesion if we make proper use of them."
"With the arrival of the new head coach, everyone wants to show that they belong in the team. Everyone was given an opportunity to prove themselves, and I hope the head coach assessed what he saw positively both individually and at team level. We tried to follow what the coach asked of us. Fortunately I managed to score in the friendly against Slovan Bratislava II, which was very important to me. I hope the overall picture will also be positive at the end of the preparation period.”
