As is well known, our team won 2-1 in Round 23 of the Merkantil Bank Liga away to BVSC-Zugló. Although we had several chances to take the lead, the hosts went in front through Bence Kocsis, before Medgyes scored once in the first half and once in the second to earn us all three points. Tamás Feczkó primarily highlighted the team's resilience.
"Once again it felt like we were playing at home, and we took to the pitch with an attacking mindset from the very first second. Based on the quality and quantity of our chances, this could have been a comfortable win. What matters, however, is that this was the fourth match we have won after going behind, and that cannot be a coincidence. By the 12th minute we had already had three clear chances, yet it was the opposition who took the lead. The goal did not unsettle us; we kept playing exactly as we had before. We took the lead early in the second half, and even when the home side went all in, we did not panic. Our counter-attacks had a third goal in them, and we should have put the match to bed. I saw a lot of good performances, we won plenty of duels and built our play well through the middle third. It was a convincing victory, even if the scoreline does not show it. I am happy that our 16-year-old player Erik Kovács was also able to make his debut" – Tamás Feczkó said in his assessment.
We have become accustomed to more than five hundred supporters travelling with the team and backing us away from the Bozsik Arena, and our head coach also spoke about the role of the fans.
"We would like to thank them again for this fanatical support; the atmosphere is fantastic at every one of our matches. When the lads came back in from the warm-up, they were already talking about how many people had travelled again and what the support was going to be like. It is a great feeling to celebrate together after the match, and I love even more how much our supporters believe in us. We have won from behind for the fourth time, and they keep backing us without wavering even in difficult moments, which helps us through the low points"
József Csábi, the coach of the Zugló side, won three league titles with Honvéd as a player and later also managed our team. He had already made life difficult for us several times before, but this time we were the ones celebrating at the end.
"You can see that Honvéd are well ahead of us in terms of their squad, especially with the winter signings. This is not the same Honvéd as in the autumn; the results show that too. The match started well for us, we scored a nice goal and we were compact, but we were not strong enough in the duels and could not control the game. The second goal completely disrupted our game plan. For the next 15-20 minutes they got on top of us. Our matches against Honvéd have always gone very well, unfortunately that run ended now" – our former outstanding player and coach told our official website.
