As is known, goals from Zoltán Medgyes and István Pekár earned us a 2–1 victory at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadium, taking us to the top of the table. At the post-match press conference, our head coach Tamás Feczkó assessed what he had seen.
"I would start with what Misi Blaskó, a huge Honvéd supporter, did: he became the first Hungarian to run Athens–Sparta–Athens. That is 490 kilometres, and he said that nothing is impossible. What my team did today really applies to that: there truly is nothing impossible. No matter how many absentees we have or who drops out of the team, there are always players I can be proud of. I can be proud of every one of my players, and I owe them gratitude for being able to work with them every day. I am also very proud of the players who could not be here with us and supported us in front of the television. Sigi (Ákos Sigér – ed.), who watched the match in Finland because he is having surgery tomorrow" – our head coach said, referring to Ádám Szamosi, Ákos Zuigeber, Ákos Sigér, Gellért Dúzs and Bonifác Csonka, who were absent through injury, as well as Ádám Gyurcsó and Ákos Baki, who were out through illness.
"Today we played against a very good team that created more chances in the first half, but in the second half we had three high-quality opportunities with which we should have decided the match. Winning at Vasas is certainly a huge achievement, because they had not lost at home since the end of August. At times there was football, at times battle, at times a fight. All of these are part of winning big contests like this." – said our 48-year-old head coach in his assessment, while also highlighting the length of the season.
"We also thank the supporters, who created a home atmosphere and stood behind us from the first second to the last; we really needed them. I would also like to congratulate Gábor, because he has put together a very good team. It is no coincidence they are in the position they are in, alongside us; there will be a huge race in the spring. We are very happy, but there are still sixteen rounds in which we have to collect points in the same way and win as many matches as possible. Congratulations to all my players; I am genuinely very proud of them."
