As is known, we defeated Karcagi SC 5–2 at home, moving back to the top of the table. It was head coach Tamás Feczkó's 10th home win in charge of Honvéd – in only his 12th match. The game also brought several notable moments: Ádám Gyurcsó started a league match for the first time since joining in the summer, while just 16-year-old Tamás Somogyi made his first-team debut, becoming Honvéd's youngest league player in Kispest in the 21st century and the second-youngest of all time.
„It is a great joy to play in this Arena in front of supporters like these; it is an uplifting feeling. I am happy that we have managed to win 10 of our 12 home matches. We hope this statistic remains just as positive. A team with serious ambitions has to take to the pitch like this. No matter what happens in the match, we have to fight until the very last second. Once again we had to come from behind to win, but the huge positive for me is that – I always see it in their eyes – no matter what happens, we keep going forward. The competition within the squad is becoming more and more evident, and those who get an opportunity keep taking it. I am pleased that Karcag played such tactical football and embraced an entertaining game for the crowd, although it annoys me that we did not score another goal in the final 25 minutes because we had the opportunities. We had never played in this shape, with these players, before. Tomi Somogyi played his first match at the age of 16, while Feri Ujváry played his third at 17, which is positive when we look at the future. Thank you very much for the support throughout the full 90 minutes” – our head coach assessed.
„I started to relax after the fourth goal. It helped that twice we replied immediately after conceding. Congratulations to the visitors for wanting to continue playing football even at 5–2. I am in a difficult position when selecting the team because those on the bench deserve to be on the pitch just as much” – added Feczkó, who also spoke about captain Szilveszter Hangya, who was left out of the starting eleven, and Ádám Gyurcsó.
„Sziszka was injured during the week and even missed a training session. His health is very important to us. He is a true captain who spends exactly as many minutes on the pitch as necessary. His injury has healed, so we wanted him to get some playing time and not lose his match rhythm. We need him every minute because both in the dressing room and on the pitch he is the kind of leader the younger players can look up to”
„Unfortunately Ádám was held back by an injury just when he was about to catch up physically. We are pleased that he is now in this kind of condition; he covered nearly two hundred metres at sprint speed in the first half alone. His game can expand our tactical repertoire, and that was visible today. I am happy that he provided an assist and got into scoring positions several times. We need everyone if we want to compete for serious objectives. He is a player with exceptional ability, and we hope he will bring a lot of joy to our supporters” – Tamás Feczkó concluded.
