As is well known, with the win over Békéscsaba, our team recorded its fifth consecutive victory at the Bozsik Arena and remained unbeaten for a fifth straight league match (4 wins, 1 draw). In addition, Tamás Feczkó gave several of our academy players playing time: our 16-year-old forward Erik Kovács came on again, while Viktor Petrók and Zsombor Liziczay also made their debuts, the latter replacing Tomás Tujvel after the goalkeeper had saved a penalty. Not that Petrók, at 17 years and one month old, could be called an 'old hand', but Liziczay, at 16 years, 2 months and 11 days, overtook his teammate Erik Kovács to become the second-youngest academy graduate ever (behind Noel Keresztes) to play for the first team. Another academy player, Ádám Szamosi, scored his first goal and also provided an assist.
At the post-match press conference, Tamás Feczkó highlighted our academy players but praised the performance of the whole team. Our head coach explained why he substituted Kevin Kántor, who had a goal and an assist, and also spoke about Lajos Détári, who celebrated his 62nd birthday this week.
“In the first half the team played effectively and creatively. We scored three goals, but we had several other chances too. We had a clear opportunity in the very first minute. The boys carried out what we had planned. Everyone understood that only a win was acceptable in today’s match. We wanted to score goals in the second half as well and we had the chances to do so. We wanted to celebrate Lajos Détári with a confident, good performance. I’m pleased that so many of our young players were able to get on the pitch.”
"I think it is always good to be Honvéd’s coach because we are talking about a sensational club. I hope not only the past, but the present and the future will be beautiful as well. We have to win in Szeged; our job is to prepare week by week and win as many matches as possible in front of this sensational support."
