After five matches, our home winning streak came to an end against Kazincbarcika on Monday evening. The side from Borsod therefore remain in a promotion position, three points ahead of Vasas. After the match both head coaches praised the other side, although Tamás Feczkó was not entirely satisfied either with our team's performance or with the refereeing. Zoltán Medgyes was sent off in the 88th minute after a second yellow card, while the referee also booked five other players (Baki, Szabó A., Csonka, Bévárdi, Szamosi). In addition to Medgyes, Csonka, Bévárdi and Szamosi therefore also reached the suspension threshold and will miss Sunday's match against Kisvárda.
"First of all, congratulations to Barcika, because they were better by one set piece. Both teams played very tactically and had prepared well for each other, which was also reflected in the quality of the chances. Essentially neither team had a clear-cut opportunity. In the first 15 minutes we opened them up well down the flanks, but we repeatedly made mistakes with the final passes. We had not conceded from a set piece for twelve matches, so it is frustrating to lose because of one, although we were playing against a very good team. For the first time we failed to score at home, which I deeply regret. Almost only the players sitting in the stands escaped a yellow card. Medgyes's sending-off was completely incomprehensible to me, but that is not why we lost. Usually we move past these things without saying anything, but three legitimate goals have been disallowed for us this spring and four penalties were not given that even our opponents were surprised about" – our head coach said in his assessment of the match.
Dominik Csontos, one of the team's key players, had to miss the match because of injury, and our head coach also shared some information on the condition of our young defender.
"Unfortunately, during the warm-up at yesterday's training session he kicked the sole of a teammate's boot and broke his toe. We found out today that he will be forced to miss several weeks" – said Tamás Feczkó, who was also asked about the season-closing derby against Vasas.
"This is an especially important match for both the club and the supporters; it is about much more than 'just' three points" – our head coach said about the final match of the season.
