Our veterans did not have the best of preparations for the league match against Budapesti AK. Several players were missing: Patkó, Lukács, Zana, Andric, Fritz and Komora were all unavailable, meaning almost half a team had to be replaced. There was even an emergency solution in goal, with Attila Plókai pulling on the gloves as an “emergency goalkeeper”.
Despite the difficulties, Kispest's superiority was obvious from the very first minute. The sustained pressure paid off in the 20th minute: Youla struck from around 20 metres, with some help from the goalkeeper, and found the roof of the net (1–0). Six minutes later our top scorer struck again, this time rounding the keeper before extending the lead (2–0). In the 35th minute Kamber headed Bábik's corner into the net (3–0), before Trembulyák fired into the bottom-left corner from 16 metres before the break (4–0). By then it was clear the visitors were mainly trying to avoid a heavy defeat.
Our side picked up where it had left off at the start of the second half. After Kamber's free-kick, Youla smashed the rebound into the roof of the net from close range (5–0), then in the 50th minute Csaba Tóth volleyed home from six metres (6–0). Not long afterwards Kamber added another with a spectacular individual move: he headed the ball into his own path before shooting into the net from 10 metres (7–0).
The visitors reached our goal seriously for the first time in the 60th minute and immediately scored (7–1), but the response came quickly: within two minutes Kamber was on target again (8–1). Our defending became a little looser in the final quarter of an hour, which Budapesti AK took advantage of, scoring twice more in the 66th and 68th minutes (8–3), although Plókai also produced several excellent saves.
The closing stages, however, belonged to Youla once again. In the 71st minute he converted Kamber's eye-catching pass after a feint (9–3), then four minutes later, with a superb finish past the onrushing goalkeeper, he scored both his own and his team's tenth goal (10–3).
The emphatic, high-scoring victory is made even more valuable by the fact that our team achieved it with a depleted line-up. Among our title rivals Ferencváros also won, so our lead over the green-and-whites remains five points.
