On Saturday we hosted fellow NB II side BVSC at Magyar Futball Akadémia in our second match of the day and seventh – and final – friendly of the summer overall.
We did not have to wait long for the first chance: after a minute and a half Zuigeber turned towards goal but did not connect cleanly, and the ball ended up in Petroff's arms. Six minutes later Medgyes worked his way down the left and aimed for the far corner, missing by only a few centimetres. Our winger had the next home opportunity as well, this time aiming towards the right side of the goal. Petroff had it covered but did not need to make a save. After the 30th minute we had two more opportunities to score. Petroff punched away Csontos's free kick, Pekár shot the loose ball towards goal but it was blocked by the Zugló wall, then Szamosi unleashed a powerful effort from the left, only for Petroff to make a spectacular save. Soon afterwards Simon curled one just wide of the bottom-right corner, but in the 36th minute we were handed a huge opportunity: Medgyes won the ball on the edge of the BVSC penalty area after Simon had briefly been dispossessed, drove towards goal at pace and was taken out by the onrushing Petroff, so we were awarded a penalty. Csontos Dominik calmly rolled the spot kick into the bottom-right corner to give us the deserved lead (1–0). The unexpected equaliser arrived at the end of the half. Sarkadi found Farkas, who then played the ball on to Pekár, who struck first time into the right side of the net to level the score (1–1).
After the restart we regained the lead with a stunning goal. Zuigeber Ákos met the bouncing ball first time from the right side of the penalty area and smashed it with tremendous power into the far top corner (2–1). In the 65th minute we gained a numerical advantage – although ultimately only temporarily. Newly introduced Olivér Tamás lost the ball to Simon, then stopped our attacker from breaking through one-on-one from behind, so after only three minutes on the pitch he was immediately sent off. Csontos took the resulting free kick, but Petroff tipped it around the post with his fingertips. From the following corner, however, he had no chance: Baki Ákos rose highest and headed into the top-right corner (3–1). After the drinks break BVSC were allowed to return to eleven men, so the match continued eleven against eleven. Csernik Kornél punished us, controlling a ball from the left before placing a low shot into Tujvel's net (3–2). BVSC's summer signing was lively in attack during the second half and shortly afterwards even hit the crossbar. At the other end, Zoltán Medgyes could have killed off the match, but Petroff saved his close-range header while standing on the goal line, before Medgyes later tried a curling effort from fifteen metres that went wide.
Tamás Feczkó's team therefore finished pre-season with a victory. Our next match will already be the derby against Videoton FC Fehérvár in Round 1 of NB II.
