The November international break did not pass without a Honvéd match. We played our tenth friendly of the season on Friday afternoon against Slovak top-flight side DAC 1904 at the DAC Academy. The hosts currently sit third in the table behind Žilina and Slovan Bratislava, while our team can look forward to the restart from second place in NB II.
The first major chance brought a goal in the 14th minute. Csontos and then Hangya moved the ball on, and after our captain delivered an excellent cross towards the six-yard line, Gyurcsó headed it into the net (0–1). It was our experienced forward's second goal for Honvéd (his first came in the league match against Tiszakécske). The end of the first half did not go well. In the 42nd minute Dúzs had to go off injured and Tujvel continued in his place, thereby coming on against his former club. In stoppage time Csonka received his second yellow card and was sent off early by the referee. Under the rules of the friendly, however, we did not have to play a man down, as Ákos Baki replaced Csonka at half-time. But that was not the end of the action: after a corner our defence failed to clear, Bationo flicked the ball on and Sylla headed home from close range (1–1). In the 54th minute Kántor neatly laid the ball back to Medgyes, who, after a solo run, fired superbly into the left corner (1–2). In the 55th minute Gagua and Pekár got into a tangle, and for the former it was a second yellow card, so he too was sent off. In the 64th minute, after a short corner, Hangya found Alex Szabó, who headed the ball on to Kántor; our forward nodded goalwards, but substitute Bartels was well positioned. In the 87th minute Tujvel produced a brilliant save from Sylla's shot heading under the bar. The score did not change again, meaning that we were able to beat the Dunajská Streda side again for the first time since 2010.
On 24 November we will visit Vasas FC in Round 14 of the Merkantil Bank Liga.
