The story of the current season:
Our Monday opponents began the campaign with a new coach after finishing fifth last season, in the person of our former head coach Máté Pinezits. Kozármisleny's 11th second-division season has so far been one of, if not the most successful in the club's history: the team remained unbeaten in the opening three rounds and finished the autumn season at the top of the table. Of the current top four, they beat Kazincbarcika away and Vasas at home. The year, however, did not start well for the Baranya side: first they dropped points in Békéscsaba, then lost 2-0 in Szeged in the previous round, slipping back to third place. (Their best previous finish was second place in the 2012-13 season, but because NB II was split into two groups, it did not mean promotion.) The current leader of the NB II scoring chart also plays for Kozármisleny: Krisztián Kirchner has 12 goals and was joint top scorer in the second division last season.
Squad:
There are also four former Honvéd players in the Kozármisleny squad. Dominik Cipf made 18 NB I appearances in Kispest, while Oleksandr Kosovschuk previously played for our second team. Zalán Átrok and Gergely Kocsis joined Kozármisleny on loan from our club in the winter, while their head coach Máté Pinezits has managed both our U19 and senior teams.
From our current squad, Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas previously played for Kozármisleny. Our forward scored three goals in Kozármisleny colours in the spring of 2016.
Head-to-head history:
Our first team has faced Kozármisleny six times so far: three league games, two cup ties and one pre-season match. The first meeting was played nine and a half years ago in the Hungarian Cup round of 16, when Kozármisleny surprisingly won 2-1 away at the Bozsik Stadion. The blue-and-whites then won the return leg by the same score and advanced to the Hungarian Cup quarter-finals 4-2 on aggregate.
The two teams met again after almost eight years, this time in the second division. The home game started well for us, as Barna Benczenleitner's header gave us a first-half lead, but goals from Gajág and Vajda turned the match around for Kozármisleny and they took all three points from the Bozsik Aréna. The February return fixture again produced the familiar 2-1 scoreline, but this time we finally had reason to celebrate, as Dávid Holman's brace was worth three points in the Baranya town.
Kozármisleny–Honvéd 1–2 (highlights)
We have met Kozármisleny twice so far this season: in August we suffered a two-goal league defeat, then in the first match of the January pre-season period we beat our opponents 2-1 through goals from Zoltán Medgyes and debutant Patrik Pinte.
