Season summary:
Season summary:
Gyirmót FC Győr started the season excellently and still led the league after round 9. Since mid-October, however, Zsolt Tamás’s team has won only one league match and is winless in its last seven. On Friday the club changed head coach, with Szabolcs Schindler taking over; as a player he previously celebrated a Hungarian Cup win in Kispest.
Players with links to both clubs:
Viktor Csörgő, Dominik Kovács, Ádám Hajdú and Roland Ugrai from the Gyirmót squad previously played in Kispest. Ádám Hajdú was part of the 2017 championship-winning team, while Roland Ugrai was a member of the 2019 cup-winning side.
From our current squad, Kornél Ene and Zoltán Medgyes previously played for Gyirmót, where they were teammates in the 2021–22 season.
History of meetings:
We have previously faced Gyirmót in NB I, NB II, the League Cup and the Hungarian Cup. The history between the two clubs began in the latter competition in 2003, with Kispest advancing after a 4–0 win. After a long break, between 2011 and 2014 we met the yellow-and-blues no fewer than seven times: six in the League Cup and once in a friendly. Apart from the first meeting, we won every one of them, twice by four goals. An additional curiosity is that Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas decided the 2014 match in Gyirmót, while Richárd Vernes scored five times against Gyirmót during this period, four of those in competitive matches.
In 2016 Gyirmót reached the top flight for the first time in its history. The first match in Kispest ended goalless, but at the Alcufer Stadium the floodgates opened and we won 4–0. The third match became unforgettable when Davide Lanzafame scored in added time to give Honvéd a 1–0 victory. At the end of the season Gyirmót finished last and Honvéd first.
In 2021 we again met Gyirmót in NB I and once again scored four goals at the Alcufer Stadium.
Gyirmót first played in the new Bozsik Arena in 2022, eventually winning 1–0, followed by a 1–1 draw in Gyirmót.
Last season we drew twice with Gyirmót: 1–1 away and 2–2 in Kispest. Interestingly, Zoltán Medgyes scored the home side’s goal in the match in Gyirmót. Across last year’s three meetings, Gergely Bobál, Krisztián Adorján and Dávid Holman were our scorers.
Our most recent match against Gyirmót was in October. Balázs Farkas gave us an early lead, but Tamási Zsolt’s team turned the game around in the second half and won 3–1.
Record against Gyirmót:

Hungarian Cup: 1 match, 1 win, 0 draws, 0 defeats, goal difference: 4:0
Overall: 16 matches, 9 wins, 4 draws, 3 defeats, goal difference: 33:15

Referee:
The match will be refereed by Tamás Bognár, for whom this will be his 49th Honvéd match. Among others, he also refereed the 2017 Honvéd–Videoton and the 2020 Honvéd–Mezőkövesd matches, which ended with a league title and a cup triumph respectively. Most recently he officiated in Zugló in May 2024, when we drew 0–0 away to BVSC.
