NB III South-Eastern Group action continued with Round 14 on Sunday, with Gábor Kovács's side hosting leaders Monor in the opening match of the day.
The first chance fell to Monor: a ball lifted back in from the left was headed over by Markó from four metres and a tight angle. Five minutes later at the other end, Bertold Tóth punched away a free kick delivered from the right. Somogyi collected the rebound, but after taking a touch shot over. In the 31st minute Földi raced down the left and rolled the ball inside to Tamás Somogyi, who took a touch between three Monor defenders. This time, however, his shot was slowed by a visiting defender's leg and Tóth saved comfortably. Soon afterwards we unsettled Monor at the back; after winning possession, Erik Kovács fired the ball sharply across goal and it was cleared from the goalmouth. Ákos Szabó's follow-up was saved by Tóth, and at the end of the half the Monor goalkeeper again produced a big save from Somogyi's curling effort.
In the opening minutes of the second half we again had a huge chance. Kovács crossed to the arriving Földi, who flicked the ball just wide of the bottom-left corner. In the 61st minute Erik Kovács threatened with a header but nodded wide from six metres. Four minutes later the leaders took the lead: Hulicsár was left unmarked to meet a cross from the left and volleyed past Bence Matyi with the help of the crossbar (0–1). Soon after the goal Földi could have equalised, but his long-range effort flew over the top-right corner. Hetyei then found himself through on goal, but Bertold Tóth again saved brilliantly. In the 82nd minute even the goalkeeper was powerless: the substitutes combined for the equaliser. Hancz pounced on a misplaced pass and played Hetyei through along the ground; he rolled the ball past Tóth into the bottom-left corner (1–1). The blue-shirted visitors had a big chance in the closing stages, but the score remained level until the final whistle. Interestingly, Szilveszter Hetyei has now scored his fourth goal in his third match against Monor in a Honvéd II shirt, with those goals worth a total of seven points.
Overall, our second team outplayed their opponents and created many chances. Against the league leaders, that was enough for one point this time. Next week we continue away to Csepel.
