Old Boys: Honvéd BKE keeps marching on.

Late on Tuesday evening, our opponents were BAK FC, a club that had seen better days. Founded in 1900, dissolved in 1934 and re-established in 2018, Budapesti Athletikai Klub had already faced us in a league match 108 years ago, in May 1926. Kispest's old boys beat BAK FC's veterans 3-2 then, so the match could even be regarded as a return fixture. Our team did not disappoint and once again left the pitch victorious.

Honvéd BKE were without four regulars in Bábik, Rajz, Patkó and Lázár, but despite that our team played well and recorded a comfortable victory.

The match did not start well, as Honvéd fell behind as early as the 10th minute. The early goal, however, caused no great alarm. Honvéd controlled the game and created plenty of chances, so it was only a matter of time before the equaliser arrived. Andric levelled in the 18th minute, then six minutes later Youla put Honvéd in front. Our leading scorer found the net twice more before the break, allowing us to head to the dressing room with a commanding advantage. Kispest made two changes at half-time, with István Gálvölgyi and Krisztián Kovács replacing Plókai and Lukács, and the latter scored after only a few minutes on the pitch. The red-and-blacks continued to create many chances in the second half, at times overcomplicating things, but still scored two more goals through Youla and Andric. Based on the chances, the score could even have reached double figures. In the final minutes the home side reduced the deficit, setting the final score at 7-3 in our favour.

“We defeated a sporting, cultured opponent with a confident performance,” Attila Plókai summed up the match.

There were no surprises among the rivals in round 5 either: MTK and Ferencváros both took three points away from home. Honvéd BKE sits top of the table with a perfect record. MTK Budapest is second and Ferencváros third on the same number of points.

Our next match is on October 7 at 19:30 against B&K Mélykút at the MFA Youth Centre.
