As we reported earlier, our team began preparations for next season on Monday. On the first day, the coaching staff welcomed the players with a series of assessments focusing particularly on mobility, strength and endurance. Work continued on Tuesday and our head coach, Maurizio Jacobacci, held his first training session. Physical preparation took centre stage in the morning, while in the afternoon – much to the players' delight – the ball came out as well. The summer period is about deliberate, progressive work, so an intensive programme awaits the team, with six friendly matches scheduled before the league campaign begins.
The first match will take place on Saturday, 27 June, when we host Kisvárda FC. We will then face the second team of Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz, before travelling the following day to NK Nafta Lendava, founded in 1903. The team is coached by József Bozsik, the grandson of our club legend after whom our stadium is named. Although the Slovenian side missed out on the second-division title in the final round, they drew the first leg of the play-off 0–0 before beating Primorje 1–0 in the return leg, earning promotion back to the top flight after one year.
On 8 July we will face Soroksár SC, followed three days later by our partner club Monor SE on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of their foundation. Our final pre-season friendly will be played away to NK Osijek on 18 July. We last met the Croatian side in 2023 in a friendly, when we recorded a 2–1 victory.
