We continue introducing the teams taking part in the 9th Honvéd Motherson & Vulcan Shield Cup, this time focusing on our own side. Our U15s have made enormous progress over the past year, and that is hardly a coincidence: Tamás Szamosi's players have played a steady stream of international matches during that period. The coaching staff also included trips to Topolya and Dunajská Streda in this year's preparation programme, while Osijek visited us at home. The weather, however, limited the programme, as heavy rain forced the cancellation of matches against Rapid Wien and Crvena Zvezda. Last weekend our players then competed in Poland, finishing an impressive fourth ahead of teams including Liverpool, Derby County and Parma.
Three national-team players will be in our squad at the tournament. Péter Szijjártó will help marshal the defence, while Milán Malomsoki will be responsible for adding to the goal tally. Taking advantage of the competition rules, Hunor Hajagos will also strengthen the squad as an over-age player during the four-day tournament.
We were drawn in a group with Paris Saint-Germain and Elche. On the opening day we face the French at 14:00, then after a rest day we take on the Spanish side on Saturday at the Budapest Honvéd Academy.

Tamás Szamosi, head coach:
It has not even been a week since we returned home from the international tournament in Poland, yet another serious challenge is already here for our players and staff. Taking part in this cup is a great honour for us, because it is a prestigious tournament featuring several strong teams. Our goal is to perform as well as possible and show our character in every match. These tournaments provide an excellent opportunity for development, so we expect high-tempo, tough matches from which our players can learn a great deal.
