Away Trip Ahead – Our Women's Team Travels to Szekszárd

As is known, last Sunday we hosted MTK at the Bozsik Aréna, and although we created several opportunities in the second half after a goalless first period, both sides were well prepared for each other. The capital derby ended in a 0–0 draw, meaning our women's team has now extended its unbeaten run in the league to six matches. Balázs Dörnyei's squad faces an away trip in Round 13 of the Simple Női Liga, as their campaign continues on the home turf of Szekszárd FC. The team from Tolna County heads into this clash sitting bottom of the table: their only league victory came at home against Astra HFC. Our opponents also underwent a managerial change in September: Stiven Mikhail took over the dugout from Attila Vágó. Szekszárd's new head coach, the Baghdad-born Canadian Stiven Mikhail, is working in Hungary for the second time, having previously had spells at Csákvár and Bicske.

Szekszárd's women's section was founded in 2021, and in its debut season finished second in the NB II behind Videoton FC Fehérvár, securing promotion to the top flight. The team competed in the first division for the following three campaigns, but failed to avoid the drop zone last season, finishing in 11th place. However, following Viktória FC's withdrawal and Dunaújváros declining to take up the promotion spot, the Tolna side accepted the NB I place to complete the 12-team lineup.
