Our U13 team ended the season on an excellent run, returning home with gold medals from two prestigious international tournaments within the space of a single week. Richárd Takács and his players first lifted the trophy at the 24-team Adria Soccer Cup, then triumphed at the Bicskei Bertalan Memorial Tournament in Szombathely, finishing ahead of clubs such as Toulouse, Austria Wien, AZ Alkmaar, RB Leipzig and Salzburg.
“We have extremely talented players who also form a community that is a joy to be part of every day. They care deeply about one another, they are able to fight for each other, everyone accepts their role and behaves like a true team player. I can honestly say it is a wonderful experience to come in and work with them every day and to see them at the academy. I am extremely grateful that we have the opportunity to work with them.” – said our U13 head coach.
Bence Márta won the top-scorer award at both tournaments. Our academy player had previously had the chance to prove himself at centre-back before being given an opportunity as a striker, which he immediately took advantage of.
“We are very happy that we performed well and managed to win. I did not expect to be the top scorer because I had never scored this many goals before, especially not in such a short space of time, as I used to play further back. I am very happy. This time I played as a striker, which I really enjoy. Centre-back is also a position I like, but up front I get into scoring positions much more often and can make a greater impact.”
Our team captain, Csanád Babos also spoke proudly, saying that it feels very special to lead such a talented team.
“It is an honour whenever we get to play against big clubs, because that is when we can really show what we are capable of. It is a great joy for me to lead such a talented and excellent team. I try to enjoy every moment of it. The team's greatest strengths are togetherness, the affection we have for one another and the opportunity to fulfil our talent.”
