On Thursday at 14:00 Hungarian time we play our final friendly before the league restarts on February 2, facing KF Prishtina e Re, a club founded in 2017.
The club, celebrating only the ninth year of its existence this year, is based in the town of Hajvalia, which has a population of 7,700. The blue-and-whites rose from the fourth tier all the way to Kosovo’s top division, celebrating their historic promotion last summer. The team currently sit bottom, in 10th place, with 4 wins, 3 draws and 11 defeats. Although they are last in the table, the side claimed several notable scalps in the autumn. In the first top-flight league match in their history they immediately won 4–0 away to Malisheva, while beating eleven-time champions and current second-placed FC Prishtina 4–1 also stands out as an excellent result. Their top scorer is Guinea-Bissau international Toni Gomes, who has scored five goals. Prishtina e Re are coached by Kosovo’s Qendrim Kida, who took charge in November and has recorded two wins, two defeats and one draw in five competitive matches. During winter preparations they also faced one of our rivals in the promotion race, Kecskemét, with that match ending 1–1.
Previous meetings with Kosovo opposition:
A year ago we began our training camp against Drita, then leaders of Kosovo’s top flight, and goals from Ákos Sigér and Zsombor Bévárdi secured a 2–0 win for Kispest. Six years ago we also faced a Kosovo opponent, when Trepca won 1–0, while in 2011 we defeated the Mitrovica side by three goals.
