We played our first friendly of Saturday away to Paksi FC in the morning.
We had to wait until the 22nd minute for the first opportunity. Földi received the ball in space on the left, but Barnabás Simon saved his one-on-one chance with his foot, and Ihrig-Farkas put the rebound wide. We also put together several flowing attacks, although this produced the biggest chance. In response, the Tolna side began creating clear opportunities of their own, forcing Gergő Rácz into three or four big saves during the half. Unfortunately Paks's pressure finally resulted in a goal in the 38th minute. After Silye's cross, Varga headed the ball into a dangerous area, and the centrally positioned Galambos János controlled the gift and shot into the bottom-right corner (1–0). We could have responded before half-time, but after a cross from the left Erik Kovács's header came back off the crossbar.
Our opponents began the second half with lively attacking play and were rewarded in the 50th minute: Horváth Kevin ran one-on-one at Varga, dribbled past our defender and then took the ball around Rácz before rolling it into the empty net (2–0). Paks did not ease off, and after several dangerous shots, in the 57th minute Gyurkits saw his effort take a deflection and end up in the net after Szendrei's lay-off (3–0). Our reply came quickly. Hetyei received a good ball on the left and Gyetván saved his one-on-one chance with his foot, but on the other side Erik Kovács headed the rebound in from close range (3–1). It was the first senior goal for our 16-year-old forward.
Our latest signing Kevin Kállai made his debut in this half, while Ádám Nyers also appeared for the senior team for the first time and Kevin Kántor returned from injury. Immediately after the drinks break we could have reduced the deficit to one: Gyetván first saved Nyers's header, then Hetyei returned the ball to our young player, whose second header went over. In the 75th minute Paks were awarded a penalty after Tóth went down over Varga's leg inside the area, and Szendrei fired the spot kick into the top-right corner (4–1). A few minutes later, after a move worked all the way through the defence, Marosi's cross was converted by Holka (5–1). Towards the end of the match we began our fightback. First, Kántor headed Varga's free kick into the bottom-right corner (5–2), then in the final moments Földi drove a low ball across from the right and the arriving Sigér smashed it powerfully into the net (5–3).
We have another match later today: at 17:00 we host BVSC at Magyar Futball Akadémia, with the game streamed live on our YouTube channel.
