Our U16s secured a 3–1 away victory against Paksi FC on Tuesday, while our U17s defeated Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC 4–2 in the 3rd round of the Hungarian Cup.

U16

Tamás Szamosi's squad traveled to Paks on Tuesday for the 3rd round of the Hungarian Cup. Our side took the lead in the 22nd minute through Zétény Sólyom, and although the hosts answered quickly, Márkó Mosolits and Áron Szűcs extended our advantage in the second half. It is a special delight that all three of our goals were scored by players who arrived in the summer. We congratulate them and wish them continued success moving forward!

MLSZ National U16 Cup, Round 3

Paksi FC–Kispest–Honvéd FC 1–3 (1–1)

Lineup: Komzsik (Petró – at half-time), Török, Józsa, Nyiri (Szűcs 70'), Bolyki (Magyar – at half-time), Schill, Mosolits (Balázs 66'), Sólyom, Varga B., Szabó D., Gerebenes

Our goalscorers: Sólyom (22'), Mosolits (48'), Szűcs (82')

Tamás Szamosi, head coach:

„From the very start, we played a very good match! Our opponent did not give up easily; whenever they could, they put pressure on us, but we were prepared for this and knew the antidote, repeatedly playing the ball out with runs in behind or one-two touches. Our opening goal was particularly well-crafted: at the end of a rehearsed attacking sequence, Sólyom slipped through the defenders nicely and scored a great goal! After that, we became a bit complacent after taking the lead and having a lot of possession. This brought its consequences: our opponent equalized, so we went into the break level. In the second half, our will prevailed. We were able to control the match almost the entire way, and thanks to that, we managed to win the contest!”

U17

Our U17s played their second competitive match in four days, as Viktor Petrók's team also kicked off their cup campaign following their league match against Gödöllői SK. Our academy players successfully cleared the first hurdle with a 4–2 victory away at Nyíregyháza Spartacus. The hosts took the lead as early as the sixth minute, but thanks to goals from Martin Vérten and Kornél Solymos, we headed into the break with a one-goal lead. Szpari managed to equalize from the penalty spot in the 57th minute, but in the closing stages, Hunor Hajagos—who also scored a crucial goal against Gödöllői SK—found the net twice within ten minutes to decide the match.

MLSZ National U17 Cup, Round 3

Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC–Kispest–Honvéd FC 2–4 (1–2)

Lineup: Székely, Palásti (Érsek – at half-time), Marinyák (Szabó B. 64'), Solymos, Domány (Jakab 75'), Hegyes, Vérten, Meggyes, Völgyi, Szijjártó (Hajagos – at half-time), Babalola (Menyhárt 64')

Our goalscorers: Vérten (30'), Solymos (32'), Hajagos (77', 87')

Viktor Petrók, head coach:

„We started the match very sluggishly, and as a result, our opponent took an early lead. The pattern of play did not change much until the middle of the half; we played with many mistakes, making poor decisions especially in the attacking third, making the match difficult for ourselves! In the second half of the period, thanks to two moments of individual brilliance, we managed to turn the match around and head into the break with a lead. The second half followed a similar script to the first, and in the end, we managed to win the match by a two-goal margin! The performance unfortunately did not turn out quite as we had imagined, but besides the result, a positive note is that we were able to provide opportunities to several players who had played less in recent times.”
