We beat FK Radnik Bijeljina 3–2 in Saturday’s friendly. Ferenc Ujváry scored his first Honvéd goal, Kevin Kántor scored with his heel again, while Ákos Sigér contributed a goal and an assist.

Although there is no round in the Merkantil Bank Liga this weekend because of the international break, the week did not pass without a Honvéd match: we hosted Bosnian top-flight side FK Radnik Bijeljina in a friendly.

Tamás Feczkó made major changes to his starting line-up, with several players who had previously received less league playing time given an opportunity, particularly in defence and midfield.

We did not start the match well. In the eighth minute, after one of our corners, the visitors launched a dangerous counter-attack. Following Gorzi’s cross-field pass, Pantelic forced his way into the penalty area past our defenders, who could only stop the forward illegally, so the referee awarded a penalty, which Teodorovic confidently converted (0–1). Three minutes later, after Cubrilo’s corner, Pantelic headed in from close range (0–2). After the cold shower, we began to come alive. Five minutes later Sigér won the ball in midfield and found Ujváry near the edge of the box, who blasted into the near corner to score his first goal for the first team (1–2). In the 25th minute Gorzic crossed and Gogic’s header missed our goal by only centimetres.  Three minutes later Gyurcsó’s cross fell to Kántor, who aimed for the right corner with the inside of his left foot, but Lakic produced a huge save to push the ball away. In the 34th minute, after successful pressing, Gyurcsó took a corner, then after Hangya’s cross Kántor headed the ball down and the rebound fell to Sigér, who struck first time with tremendous power into the left side of the goal (2–2). In the 43rd minute Pauljevic and Pekár combined on a one-two, with the former breaking down the right before crossing for Kállai to strike first time. It might still have been blocked if Kántor had not been there; just as against Mór, he again found the net with his heel (3–2). In the second half Medgyes came closest to scoring, but our forward was off target on both occasions, so after a five-goal first half there were no further goals in the second and we won the match.

Next Sunday we play away to Kozármisleny from 17:00 in round 10 of the Merkantil Bank Liga.
