Another important match awaited our team in Round 21 of the Merkantil Bank Liga as we visited Mezőkövesd Zsóry, who had collected only two points more than us in the table.
Tamás Feczkó was unable to call on Alex Szabó, who had scored and provided an assist in our latest win against Soroksár, so the returning Kornél Ene replaced him. Apart from that, he sent out the same starting line-up against the Borsod side as against Soroksár. Neither team was able to create a genuine scoring chance for a long time in the opening half-hour, but after that Hangya, Csonka and Baki each made important interventions, while at the other end Baki fired wide from close range following Csontos's free-kick in the 32nd minute. Towards the end of the half, Ene then made a major mistake and Szendrei took advantage, calmly rolling the ball past Tujvel (1-0).
The second half began as badly as the first had ended. In the 47th minute, Cibla broke through the left side of our defence before the ball bounced off the foot of the arriving Szendrei and over the goal line (2-0).
Tamás Feczkó made substitutions and this brought some more life into our play. In the 68th minute, after an attractive passing move, Juhász had to save Keresztes's shot. Two minutes later, Kántor held the ball up superbly, then Keresztes and Medgyes combined before our forward's effort heading under the crossbar was brilliantly saved by Juhász. In the 74th minute, first Medgyes and then Kántor came close to scoring, but the score remained unchanged. In the 82nd minute Medgyes fired from distance and Kántor put the rebound from Juhász into the net, but our 24-year-old forward had started from an offside position, so the referee disallowed the goal. In the 87th minute Baki headed Csontos's cross centimetres wide, before Posztobányi missed a one-on-one at the other end. In the final seconds of the match, Baki could have pulled one back, but his long-range effort flew wide of the bottom-right corner.
Following next week's league break, we host Csákvár (03.30), before visiting BVSC-Zugló (04.06).

Tamás Feczkó's assessment:
"Wherever we play in the country, we are effectively at home because of our supporters, so it is incomprehensible that we produced our weakest half of the year in the first half. It is very frustrating that we had to give away a two-goal lead before we woke up. Mezőkövesd deserved to win because they played much better than we did in the first half. At 2-0 we had chances that unfortunately we could not convert, and the one we did convert was offside again. It is interesting that after 21 rounds the team still has not been awarded a penalty, even though we have the third-highest number of touches inside the penalty area in the league."
