Key facts, interesting details – everything you need to know ahead of the clash against MTK Budapest.

Following Saturday's home victory, our team continues the championship on the road. In the 13th round of the OTP Bank Liga, we visit our direct table neighbors, MTK Budapest, at the Új Hidegkuti Nándor Stadion. The capital side started the league well, securing a victory by scoring three goals in their opening match against ZTE FC. In the second round, they faced our team in an eventful, high-scoring 3–3 draw, and for a long time, it looked as though we would celebrate taking all three points at the Bozsik. Fortune, however, had other plans.

MTK have registered the same number of wins as our side, but over the past seven rounds, they have managed to claim all three points just once. Most recently, they also faced ZTE FC, this time away from home, suffering a 3–0 defeat. On home turf, they have played six matches so far, keeping the three points at home on three occasions. On Tuesday, MTK's management parted ways with their head coach, our former manager Máté Pinezits; his place was temporarily taken by blue-and-white legend József Kanta, making the biggest question whether the interim coach will make sweeping changes to the team or not.

MTK's most prolific player is Gábor Jurek, who recently made his debut for the national team. He has found the net seven times so far, currently leading the league's top scorer charts.

As for our side, we currently sit one point ahead of the capital team in the standings. Over the last four rounds, our team has recorded two wins (Nyíregyháza, Kisvárda), one draw (Újpest), and one defeat (Debrecen), and the clash against MTK falls into a similar category as the two fixtures we have already won. Furthermore, Maurizio Jacobacci can prepare for the encounter with an almost fully fit squad – with the exception of Ádám Somogyi, whose recovery is progressing well according to the latest medical examinations.

Supporter Information:

Tickets for the match against MTK were snapped up almost instantly by the Kispest supporters. Recognizing the high demand, our club contacted the hosts, who provided an additional 60 tickets for our fans in the away section.

Away supporters will enter through Gate 3 of the stadium, located at the corner of Sport utca and Százados utca.

Gates open at 14:45, two hours before kickoff.

A buffet will operate in the away section, offering both cash and credit card payment options.

Parking around the stadium is free on weekends; however, due to the limited number of parking spaces, we recommend arriving by public transport.

Head-to-head record: The two capital outfits have met 200 times in the top flight. Our team claimed victory in 63 of these encounters, while 47 ended in a draw. The sides last met in the second round of this season, resulting in an exciting 3–3 draw. As for our trips to Hungária körút: we have left empty-handed in our last three league visits, suffering two 1–0 defeats and one 3–1 loss, meaning we have to look back nearly eight years to find an away Honvéd victory. On May 19, 2019 (the number 19 is particularly symbolic in Kispest due to the 19th district), we secured a 4–1 win at the Hidegkuti courtesy of a brace from David N'Gog and goals from Filip Holender and Djordje Kamber. The overall picture, however, is far less grim, as we celebrated victories at the Bozsik in both March and November 2021.

Shared players: MTK's squad features several players who previously wore the Kispest colors. Among them is Ádám Nyers, who represented Honvéd in over 100 youth matches before making his first-team debut last season. At the senior level, he featured in 13 league games and two Hungarian Cup matches, scoring four goals. In addition, Marcell Mácsik and Milán Klausz also developed through our academy. Furthermore, Zalán Kerezsi played for our club between 2018 and 2025 – spending the first two seasons in the academy before progressing to the first team.

The capital outfit was coached by our former manager, Máté Pinezits, until Tuesday. Pinezits is also intimately familiar with the Kispest setup, having joined our academy in the summer of 2020. He managed the U19 team for three seasons before being appointed head coach of our first team in June 2023.

Among our players, Ákos Baki played for MTK Budapest between 2009 and 2022, Ákos Zuigeber between 2013 and 2025, and Szilveszter Hangya between 2011 and 2015.
